Where appropriate they use a combination of English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, PE, LOTE and The Arts to explore the concepts and content. Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, Sharing The Planet, How we Organise Ourselves, How the World Works, How we Express Ourselves.
Medication All medication (including over the counter medication) needs to have written consent from a doctor before it is administered. Those students using asthma puffers and EpiPens are required to have a completed action plan signed by a medical practitioner. Parents wanting their students to self administer their own medication are to have consent from their medical practitioner and liaise with Mrs Jessica Rigby to discuss an Action Plan. Please ensure all conversations about medication are had at the office (and Mrs Rigby) and then passed on to the classroom teacher. Diverse Learning and Enrichment At Rochedale State School we believe that all students can learn given the right time, right support and right opportunities. We value student diversity and respect individual learning differences. A whole-school (team) approach is adopted to provide quality differentiated teaching practice that is responsive to the needs of all students. Students with diverse learning needs include students: who require extension/enrichment in key learning areas (identified through school data) who have English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) with verified disabilities Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Hearing Impairment (HI), Vision Impairment (VI), Physical Impairment (PI), Speech-Language Impairment (SLI) with learning disabilities (some examples are listed below) Specific learning disorder Central auditory processing disorder Sensory integration disorder Language disorder or Speech sound disorder Developmental coordination disorder or motor planning difficulties Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. who have been identified, through school data collection, as requiring support in one or more key learning areas
How We Respond For students with disability or diverse learning needs, reasonable adjustments are made to ensure that these students are able to participate in education on the same basis as students without disability or diverse learning needs (DET Disability Policy). Goal: Inclusivity not withdrawal At Rochedale State School we believe that all students can learn effectively within the regular classroom given the appropriate level of support and scaffolding. Whilst it may still be necessary, in some cases, to withdraw individual students or groups of students from the regular classroom environment for some learning experiences, this is not our standard practice. Team Teachers are assigned as an additional member of the year level teaching team; working collaboratively and conjointly with classroom teachers to ensure that all students with diverse learning needs are supported in their regular classroom setting.
