Christmas Craft Market A huge thank you to coordinators Melinda Richardson and Kate Jackson and the many parents and children who ran stalls and attended last Sunday s Canterbury Craft Market despite the early morning drizzle. The collection of local handicrafts and produce and the many families who strolled and chatted their way around the stalls, created a lovely low key atmosphere that is typical of the community feel of Canterbury. Money raised from the stall holders fees and through the sausage sizzle will be donated to Debra (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) Australia. UNSW medal winner Congratulations to Amanda U, Thomas R and Joshua Q who received medals at a special presentation on the weekend held at the Convention Centre. Amanda received two medals for achieving the top results in the state for year 3 students in both the Writing and the Spelling categories. Thomas received a medal for achieving the top result in the state for Digital Technologies in Year 3 and Josh received his medal for achieving the top results in the state in Year 5 Spelling. This is the first time we have had multiple medal winners across a number of categories. On Sunday 27 November the CPA hosted the Canterbury Primary School Christmas Market. It was a wonderful morning despite the rather wet weather. This has always been a great way to give back to our community by donating all proceeds to a charity. This year we were proud to support EB Research, which is an organisation with close ties to our Canterbury Community. For more information or to donate to this worthy cause www.debra.org.au Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out yesterday with slushee pouring, face painting, card making and sausage sizzling. Without you, events such as this can not happen. As you have all probably seen, Neva Rossi is retiring at the end of 2016 after 44 years teaching - 26 of there here at CPS. Neva has had a wonderful career and has touched the lives of so many of our children. It s amazing to think that the young preps that were just starting when she started are now turning 32!! The CPA is going to host a special morning tea on December 16 at 10:40. All parents are welcome to attend in the Staff room. Please see link below to assist with catering.. www.volunteersignup.org/ftlel To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do. Thank you for volunteering! The CPA is already planning functions for 2017! On Thursday February 2,2017, 5:00-7:30pm, the CPA will host the CPS Twilight Picnic on the Anzac Green. All families are warmly invited to attend. Bring a picnic dinner or purchase from the food truck we will have on site (TBA). Our 2017 Preps will be presented with a keepsake reminding them of their first day at school and our Year 6 students will be presented with their traditional school polos. Please see flyer attached to newsletter for more info.
