The Carnegie Medal is the UK's oldest and most prestigious children's book awards. Often described by authors and illustrators as 'the one they want to win' - they are the gold standard in children's literature. The very best children s books are taken from a long (very long) list and narrowed down to eight ten titles. This is what we call the Carnegie Shortlist. Here at William Brookes School, we take part in an annual book quiz against Idsall School where our very own students read the shortlist books (or one of the books) and take part to win the coveted Bashes Trophy, the symbol of the ultimate book quiz winner! This year s shortlist will be announced on: Thursday 15 March. Miss Lee would like to invite all book-loving students who would like to participate in this yearly event, please sign up in the library. If you re unsure as to what the Carnegie event entails, feel free to ask Miss Lee or any of the past Carnegie goers any questions you may have about the event.
