Personal Project Final Report Upcoming Dates Rough Draft: January 27th Personal Project Supervisors will provide feedback on the rough draft. Final Report and Process Journal: February 17th Supervisors will assess students on their final report, final product, and process journal 5

What are Approaches to Learning (AtL) Skills? Provide the foundation for independent learning and encourage the application of the students knowledge and skills in unfamiliar contexts. The IB Diploma Programme (DP) The DP includes the majority of our courses at the junior and senior levels Courses are offered at the Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL) of the IB Curriculum Higher Level = HL IB requires that HL courses have 240 hours of instruction prior to testing Standard Level = SL IB requires that SL courses have a minimum of 150 hours of instruction prior to testing. 11
Almost all courses must be taken both Junior and Senior Years. There are only three SL courses that can be taken as a one year option: Psychology SL, Geography SL, and Global Politics SL All of our HL and SL course offerings are listed on your sample Subject Selection Sheet. 12

Requirements for the IB Full Diploma Programme Testing in 3 classes at the HL Level (4 maximum) Testing in 3 classes at the SL Level (2 minimum) Completion of the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) class - Offered Junior Year AND Senior Year Completion of 4,000 word Extended Essay Completion of 150 Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) hours 14

Requirements for the IB Career-related Programme Testing in at least 2 classes at the HL or SL Level Many students test in more than 2 IB Exams Completion of the Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) class Offered Junior Year AND Senior Year Completion of the Reflective Project Completion of the Language Portfolio Completion of 50 Service Learning hours 17

Requirements for the IB Course Certificate Programme Students take all IB Courses Students are expected to take at least 1 IB Exam in a subject areas of their choosing Students receive a MPS Reagan High School Diploma if they have met the district graduation requirements 19

Where and When are the IB Exams? IB Exams occur during the first three weeks of May Many tests are split over two days Schedule is set by IB IB Exams are administered at either Reagan or the Moose Lodge Where is the Moose Lodge? 13th and Grange 21
Sample Fee Structure/Cost of IB Exams The Registration Cost for IB Exams this year is $170 for ALL students The cost of each IB Exam is $60 for non-income eligible students The cost of the IB Exam Fees are subsidized by the State of Wisconsin and MPS MPS pays 50%, IB charges $120 22
How Can I Support My Child in the IB Programme? The following are suggestions from current IB seniors: Appreciate and celebrate the challenging work that our students do Allow students the opportunity to make mistakes Be understanding of the complexities of the IB Programmes Continue to have high expectations Understand the time commitment required of the IB Programmes Be supportive of extracurricular activities Be positive and open-minded about your child s goals and aspirations Maintain open lines of communication with your child 23
Sophomore Programming Timeline Wednesday, January 4th and Thursday, January 5th: Sophomores are introduced to IB Programme options in MYP Chemistry Friday, January 6th: Sophomores are introduced to Reagan s Course Catalog and review their transcripts in ACP Advisories Monday, January 9th: Sophomores complete the programming questionnaire in ACP Advisories Tuesday, January 17th - Friday, February 3rd: Sophomores will be pulled for 10-15 minutes from classes to complete their Course Selection Form with a guidance counselor or an IB coordinator 24
