What is this programme about? Operated by the nonprofit Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) and sponsored through the University of Colorado, Semester at Sea's worldwide itineraries offer rigorous coursework coupled with field assignments and service learning in over 10 international destinations, and the skills necessary to compete in today's rapidly globalizing world. 39
When does the programme take place NUS students from all faculties have the option to participating the following voyages: Fall (14-15 weeks) September to December Spring (14-15 weeks) January to mid-april Students will be required to apply to their respective faculties for Leave of Absence (LOA) for the voyage. Participants wishing to transfer the credits back to NUS will be required to pay NUS tuition fees. 40
How much does it cost? The programme fee includes tuition, housing, all meals aboard to the ship, all academically field labs, residential student services and advisement and assistance by ISE student services. Is financial assistance available? NUS students who meet the programme s eligibility criteria and complete their application for the programme are eligible for the ISE-NUS scholarship in a form of tuition fee reduction (up to 60% of programme fee). What are the eligibility requirements Undergraduates from any faculty who have completed at least one year of study at NUS prior to participation in this programme Should not be in their graduating semester prior to participation in this programme CAP of 3.5 and above Students must demonstrate their writing skills in a 300-500 word essay as indicated in the online application 43
How do I apply? To be considered for the ISE-NUS scholarship (in form of tuition fee reduction) applications for all voyages must adhere to the following deadlines.
