MERIDIAN JUNIOR COLLEGE 2017 DIRECT SCHOOL ADMISSION EXERCISE (DSA-JC) (FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2018) The 2017 Direct School Admission Exercise is now open to students who wish to seek direct admission into JC1 in 2018. Students currently studying in secondary schools should be sitting for the GCE O Level Examination this year. Be part of the Meridian Experience! You could be an exceptional sportsperson who has represented the State or shone in competitions at the national level. You could be playing for Singapore Schools Teams or Clubs. Alternatively, you could be a performer with laudable talent, performance experience and competition achievements. In addition, you treasure enriching learning experiences, look forward to a well-rounded college life, and aspire to contribute to it. DSA Criteria Students may apply for MJC Direct School Admission through one of the following two channels (and their associated broad criteria) listed below. (I) CCA Acceptable academic results Good testimonials or recommendation letters by teachers Good co-curricular activities (National or National Juniors, Singapore Schools Teams or Clubs) School or club representative for niche Sports CCAs in MJC Relevant music or performance experience in niche Performing Arts CCAs in MJC Performance at the CCA auditions/trials (II) Academic Excellent academic results Good testimonials Other considerations: Special talents, outstanding academic achievements, or exposure to Science research. 1
Application Procedure If you are interested in applying to Meridian JC through DSA-JC, please: 1) complete and submit an online DSA application form 2) print out the completed online DSA application form for submission with a set of supporting documents The set of supporting documents comprises: CCA records (all available records) CIP records (all available records) Result slips Sec 4 (SA1), Sec 3 (SA2 & SA1), Sec 2 (SA2 & SA1) and Sec 1 (SA2 & SA1) Testimonial or Recommendation letters by teachers NAPFA results most recent certification Other supporting documents such as highest certification of achievements 3) arrange and attend the respective CCA trial / audition (if you are applying through DSA CCA) The set of supporting documents and a printed copy of the DSA application form should be submitted as follows: DSA (Academic) by post Direct School Admission Administration Manager (Registrar) Meridian Junior College 21 Pasir Ris Street 71 Singapore 518799 DSA (CCA) in person, at the respective CCA audition/trial The respective teacher(s) in-charge of the CCA Incomplete applications (e.g. without a complete set of supporting documents, insufficient information provided on the online application form) will not be accepted or considered. However, if you have not sat for your SA1 Examination, you can send in your SA1 result slip at the soonest date possible. 2
Info for Online Application Module The online application module for the DSA-JC Exercise is now open. Please click on the link DSA Online Application in MJC website to submit the online application form. A personal statement (of not more than 500 words) is needed in the online application module. You are thus advised to prepare this using a wordprocessing software/application separately, such that you can cut/paste your statement easily when completing the form. Schedule for CCA Trials For students applying through DSA CCA, a CCA trial/audition is necessary for the application to be considered as complete. Please refer to the schedule for the trial/audition dates on our DSA-JC in Annex A. Under various circumstances, the trial dates may be subject to change. Students should therefore write to arrange and obtain confirmation with the various CCA teachers for the trial/audition, rather than turn up without any prior arrangement.
