Attendance Dean Hurst is our Dean devoted entirely to attendance. The attendance clerk is located in the front office on the left hand side. (Mrs. Patterson) If you plan to check your student out for a doctor appointment, please complete the early dismissal form online and have your student turn in the form to the attendance clerk. This way your student can be ready for you when you get to the office. We only accept call in s for early dismissal on emergencies and it must be approved by administration. Please see the Attendance tab under the parent link on the Nease Website for additional information and attendance related forms. We send 5, 10, and 15-day letters home. Please remember attendance could affect your ability to receive and retain your drivers license. Good grades and attendance are directly correlated!

B Books, Bell Schedule Books Textbooks will be received throughout the first week of school. Keep in mind many textbooks are online now and online codes will be received through the individual classes. You will need your student ID to check out books. (ID s will be received during 9 th grade orientation.) Books may be checked out through the Media center with a pass from a teacher; before school, after school or during lunch. Kindle/E Readers are allowed at school with the AUP (Acceptable Use Procedures) form and Waiver for Personal Electronic Property completed. (Available in the Code of Conduct and online.) Bell Schedule We have 4 different main bell schedules. All are available on the website: Regular Daily bell schedule, Wednesday bell schedule, 1 st period homeroom schedule, 3 rd period homeroom schedule. During Exam times undated bell schedules will be available online. Typical daily school hours are 9:15-3:45. A possible innovative Bell Schedule with opportunity for enrichment/remediation during the school day may be put into place. More information will provided at Freshman orientation.

C Cafeteria Cafeteria We have 3 different Lunches which are determined by your 4 th period class. 30 minutes. This may change with possibility of the previous mentioned bell schedule. PayPAMs is available on our website under the parent tab. Many students do bring their own food; we have microwaves available for student use. Students may eat in the cafeteria, weather permitting outside in the PAC amphitheater or at picnic tables next to the cafeteria.

Consequences follow St. Johns County District guidelines. Detention, ISS, Saturday School, OSS Bullying can be turned in anonymously online under parent tab. Dress code Flip Flops! E Exams Exam schedules will be available on the website. Only first semester exams are early dismissal, all other exams days are regular dismissal. Exams include: Midterm Exams Final Exams Standardized Tests: Florida Standards Assessment FSA PSAT and PLAN(9 th -11 th grades) SAT/ACT (10 th -12 th grades) AP Exams (9 th -12 th grades) IB exams (12 th grade) PERT (11 th Grade) ASVAB

F Fees Some classes have a Fair Share Fee. Textbooks only cost if lost or damaged. You can choose to buy some consumable resources. Senior Year you will have Senior Dues Generally Varsity Sports tickets cost $5.00 except for Football which is $7.00 or district/state competitions. Lockers $5.00 PE Uniforms: $10.00 Some Testing costs. PLAN/PSAT/ASVAB/AP Transcript Fee $2.00 Please speak with your School Counselor if there is ever a financial need.

G Guidance and GPA Guidance Located in the Administrative Office Each student is assigned a school counselor. Counselors are assigned by Alpha or Program. This is their counselor throughout high school. GPA GPAs begin as soon as you take a high school level course. Remember a minimum un-weighted cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate from High School. Athletics after High School? The NCAA requires a minimum un-weighted cumulative GPA of 2.3. (Speak with your Counselor.)

L Link Crew and Lockers Link Crew leaders (students) are trained in mentoring other students through their high school experiences. Mentoring Training is provided by teachers who are trained in this proven method. Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and new students to make them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders. As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen through their first year. Link Crew begins with a powerful orientation day that makes freshmen excited and proud to be attending their new high school and allows them to begin developing relationships and strategies that will contribute to their high school success. After orientation, Link Crew continues, providing a variety of both Academic and Social Follow Up Activities throughout the year. Lockers are provided through out the school. Locks must be purchased through the school for $5.00. Please do not provide your own lock-they may be cut off. Lockers will be available during the first week of school. Due to construction are locker numbers may be reduced. Plan accordingly.

M Media Center Hours of Operation: We offer: M, T, Th, F: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm W: 8:30 3:00 Extended hours during high traffic times Books (Fiction/Non-Fiction/Reference) and Audio CDs -Nease has all the latest Young Adult Fiction! Students are allowed to request book to be purchased. Most book requests are purchased, processed, and DELIVERED to the student in less than a week! RESOURCES: We offer a wide variety of resources to support the curriculum and pleasure reading of our students and teachers. Students are welcome to our facility before/after school, during their lunch, and when on a pass from their teacher to check-out materials, work on the computers, study, etc. Copier\Printer (.10 cents a page) Study Carrels Café Area (set-up like Barnes and Noble) - Because this area is tiled, students are allowed to eat and drink at these tables while enjoying a good book. Many comfy chairs and tables for playing chess.

N Naviance Coordinator: Natalie Kunkel Naviance is a college and career readiness platform that helps connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals. Email notifications and transcripts. Naviance Passwords will be received in your English classes. Usernames are the students email address in eschool Plus. Parents may have their own by requesting a username and password from Ms. Kunkle via email. The Link is on the website under the Guidance Tab

P Panther Pick up 9 th Grade orientation will be August 2 nd and begins at 8:00 a.m. This is for 9 th Link Crew Leaders will be in contact with the student prior to this event. R Report Cards Report cards and interims are now available through HAC center on the issue dates. If a hard copy is needed a student may come to the front office. Any EOC course (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Biology, American History) will not have a final grade or earn credit until the end of the school year due to the 30% exam. If you have questions over any grades please contact the students teacher via email. If you still have questions/concerns please contact the students school counselor. Email is the best avenue. As always, feel free to contact administration as necessary.

S Schedules Nease follows the District s Drop/Add policy. A STUDENT MAY ONLY DROP A SCHEDULED COURSE WITHIN THE FIRST FIVE CLASS MEETINGS IF: You will receive your schedule during freshman orientation. Any updates or changes will be seen on the 1 st and 2 nd day of school. If you have questions please contact your student s school counselor via email; this is the most efficient way of communication. After 1 st week of school changes will only be made through administration approval. THEY WERE INACCURATELY PLACED AND SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN A COMPARABLE COURSE. AFTER THE 5 DAY DROP PERIOD A STUDENT MAY NOT DROP THE COURSE UNTIL THE END OF THE SEMESTER AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS EXIST: A GRADE OF D OR F, COMPLETION OF A PARENT CONFERENCE DURING EACH GRADING PERIOD, DEMONSTRATION OF THE STUDENT SEEKING CONSISTENT ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE, AND SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN A COMPARABLE COURSE.

T Testing Ms. Messenger Testing Coordinator s office is located in the front office. Ms. Messenger handles all testing; including any virtual course testing you need to complete. Tests needed for Dual enrollment including the CPT/PERT are also handled through Ms. Messenger. You will hear more about this your Junior and Senior years. Please become very familiar with our testing tab under the guidance link on the Website.

U Uniforms Physical Education and HOPE both require Uniforms. Uniforms will be available for purchase during 9 th grade orientation and during PE the first week of school. Uniforms Cost $10.00. You may use them all four years. If there is a financial need tell your guidance counselor or your PE instructor or any trusted adult.

V Volunteer hours Students After 8 th grade any hours count! Service hours should be submitted on letterhead from the place where you performed your service. Letters must include your name and number of hours you completed. Turn this documentation into your guidance counselor. Bright Futures requires a minimum 75 hours of community service. There is no community service required for graduation. Parents The School Access Form is available online on the district website. (To volunteer) Once you have been approved (passed all background checks) You will sign in at the front desk. Middle School Clearance transfers to High School. You must always have state or federal ID to enter the school. We often use sign up genius to ask for volunteers. Please consider getting approved now! Thank you!
