Achievements of Staff Dr. M.V.L. Surya Kumari, Physical Directress, Received a Special award from GNITS management on Annual Day celebrations (18 th March 2011) for outstanding contribution to the College in the field of Sports. Presented a research paper entitled Yoga in Sports for Optimum performance at the Asian Conference on Physical Education and Computer science in sports to be held at Osmania University, Hyderabad from 7 th to 9 th May 2010. Chaired a session also in this above Asian Conference. Delivered a Guest lecture on Importance of Exercise and Diet in the modern day living at St. Pious Degree and P.G. College, Hyderabad on 3-7-2010. Delivered a Guest lecture at St. Pious School, Hyderabad, on Role of Physical Education teachers in the wholesome personality development of students in the Workshop organized for the Physical Education professionals on 31-7-2010. Published a paper entitled Yoga in Sports for Optimum performance in the Asian Journal on Physical Education and Computer science in sports published by IACSS in May 2010. A session was taken up on Nutritional supplements for athletes in the pre Conference Workshops to be held prior to the Commonwealth International sports science congress (CISSC) on 26th and 27 th September-2010. Presented a Research paper entitled Effect of Variations in Training load on Mechanical Efficiency in Athletes at the Commonwealth International Sports Science Congress-2010 to be held at Delhi from 27 th to 30 th September 2010 prior to Commonwealth Games-2010 at Delhi. 6

Health and Fitness awareness Programs Fitness through walking A seminar on scientific way of walking to GNITS staff: Department of Physical Education organized a seminar on walk for health and 3km walk for the GNITS staff members with the aim of improving health and Fitness of staff through walking activity within the college. This was inaugurated by Director Dr. I. Ramachandra Reddy garu on 2 nd July 2011. Dr. Surya Kumari, Physical Directress gave a presentation on Benefits of Walking, and Scientific guidelines for walking n this occasion Inauguration 3km walk for Staff by Director- Dr. I. JNTU Inter college Tournaments In the JNTU Zone- A inter collegiate sports meet held at Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, Hyderabad, from 3 rd to 5 th March 2011, GNITS won the following titles and got JNTU Zone-A Overall Championship for Women. Inter Engineering colleges Sports Meet at GNITS V A.P. STATE INTER ENGINEERING COLLEGES SPORTS MEET VERVE-2011 Verve- Hold your nerve, a mega sports fest being organized every alternate year at GNITS to motivate and encourage women Engineering students to participate in sports competitions that would help them to achieve both health related and competition related fitness. The 5th A.P. state Inter Engineering colleges sports fest. VERVE-2011 was organized on 28 th February and 1 st March 2011. Twenty five Womens teams from various Engineering colleges situated in and around Twin cities were participated in Five events namely Volleyball, Basketball, Throw ball, Table tennis and Shuttle Badminton. The meet was inaugurated by GNITS Chairman Sri.P. Subba Reddy garu.welcome address was given by Incharge Director Prof. Ramesh Reddy and a report on the Verve-2011 was presented by Dr. surya Kumari, Physical directress. For closing ceremony on 1 st march 2011, Mr. Kiran Reddy, International volleyball player and PRO of APSRTC, Hyderabad wa the chief guest. Dr. I. Ramachandra Reddy, Director presided over the function. Prizes along with cash awards were given away by the Chief Guest. 16

Felicitation of Players Cash Awards to GNITS Teams by the Chairman Sri. P.Subba Reddy Garu The GNITS Management gave Rs. 40,000/ as cash incentives to the college teams who have brought laurels to the college by winning many titles at various inter collegiate meets during the year 2010-2011. Annual Sports day Function: The Annual sports award function was organized on 17 th March 2011 at 2-30 pm in the college Seminar hall. Mr. I. Ramachandra Reddy, Director- GNITS was the Chief Guest and All the HODs were Guests of Honour. Prizes were given away by the Chief guest and guests of Honour. Dr. Surya Kumari, Physical Directress presented a brief report on activities and achievements of Department of Physical Education. Special awards were given for the Outgoing batch of students who contributed to the college teams for the past four years.
