Mathematics 6 (M200) Dates: June 23rd - August 7th Location: Atlee High School Time: 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM Cost: $300.00/resident $357.00/non-resident This class will provide enrichment opportunities for students planning to take Math 7 in sixth grade who want a firmer foundation in the critical concepts of Math 6 prior to enrollment in Math 7. English As a Second Language Tutorial (SU02) Dates: July 7th - July 31st & SAES Time: CSES / 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM SAES / 8:15 AM - 12:15 PM Cost: Tuition Free/Offered to residents only This enrichment class will be targeted to ELLS who are at proficiency levels 1 and 2; improving their skills in reading, writing, and speaking in English through the immersion experience. 2

Students will explore and celebrate cultural traditions. Playtime with Polymers (SU28) (Grades 3-5) Date: July 21st - 24th Cost: $60.00/resident $120.00/non-resident Polymers are everywhere! Slime, bouncy balls, strawberries, spiders, bugs and YOU! Students will conduct actual chemistry-based investigations to unlock the secrets of polymers in our natural world. Robotics & Programming (SU39) (Grades 3-5) Date: July 7th - 10th Cost: $60.00/resident $120.00 non-resident In this new camp we are combining Hi-Tech STEM robotics & programming skills utilizing BirdBrain Technologies, LLC Finch Robots! Scratch & Snap! And Alice Programming languages will be used, as well as LEGO WeDo and Mindstorm EV3 robotics. 3

ENRICHMENT COURSES Keyboarding (SU36) (Grade 5) Dates: Location: Atlee High School Session I - July 7-9 & 14-16, 2014 Session II - July 28-30 & August 4-6, 2014 Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Cost: $75.00/resident only Students will develop basic keyboarding skills in this course with an emphasis on the development of proper keyboarding technique, speed, and accuracy. Students will explore the use of a variety of software, including word processing. (Participants will be current 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.) Middle School Jump Start /Organization & Study Skills (SU37 (Grade 5) Date: July 7th -10th Locations: Atlee High School Cost: $65.00/resident only Time: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Would you like to know why homework takes you so long? Have you wondered how to really prepare for a test? This session will help you to focus & to manage your time more efficiently. You will leave the final session empowered with organization & study skills & ready for the 2014-15 school year. (Participants will be current 5th graders.) Notification: Be sure to send your child on the first day of summer school. Written notices about classes will not be mailed. If you have questions regarding your child s registration, contact the counselor at your child s school. Attendance: Regular attendance is important to the learning process. Students are expected to attend school each day of the session. Regulations: All rules and regulations from the Code of Student Conduct printed in the 2013-2014 Elementary Parent -Student Handbook apply during summer school. The curriculum will provide opportunities for skill enrichment and remediation. Classes are designed to be stimulating with enjoyable learning opportunities. The check or money order should be made payable to your child s school and sent back with the completed 2014 Elementary Summer School Registration Form. 6
