CHIJ St Nicholas Girls School (Pri) After-School Enrichment and Supplementary Schedule 2015 1. This schedule highlights the after-school enrichment and supplementary programmes the school has planned for our pupils in 2015. 2. Objectives of After-School Enrichment Programmes The after-school Enrichment Programmes aim to provide our girls with opportunities beyond the classroom to develop essential life-skills, social-emotional competencies and dispositions that will put them in good stead to navigate through an increasingly complex world. The variety of enrichment platforms ranges from Values-In-Action Projects, Leadership Training, IT Training, Social Studies Learning Journeys, Sports and Aesthetics Workshops, Overseas Immersion Trips and etc. Where time permits, the school has also infused enrichment activities within the curriculum. These include Bicultural Performing Arts Workshops, Speech and Drama lessons, Subject-related recess activities and Learning journeys (for Lower Primary pupils) which aim to enhance pupils ability to apply learning across different disciplines and discover their talents. 3. Objectives of After-School Supplementary Programmes The after-school Supplementary Programmes aim to deepen the cognitive learning skills of our Primary 4 to 6 pupils, specifically in Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. Differentiated programmes are designed based on the different learning abilities of pupils so that they are exposed to different ways of learning, e.g. through research and experiment and varied ICT tools. These are further extensions of their learning within curriculum and are not meant to repeat or drill the same concepts already taught in class. 4. Details of Programmes Details of the Enrichment and Supplementary Programmes will be given by the individual Teachers-In-Charge nearer the programme/ activity. Information on these programmes and other school events, accurate as of 2 January 2015, are provided in the School Calendar 2015 on the School Website. However, there may be slight adjustments to the dates/ timings, subjected to availability of the partnering organisations or vendors. We seek the understanding of parents on this. 5. Please note that Talent Management Programmes that provide after-school specialised training to selected pupils who are talented/ gifted in specific areas are not included in this schedule. Teachers-In-Charge of these programmes will inform the selected pupils separately on their training and competition dates. 6. After-school P5 and P6 Higher Chinese Language Lessons are scheduled on every Monday afternoons from 2.30 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. with effect from Term 1 Week 1 onwards, unless otherwise specified by the HCL teachers.
