Jason Villalba named to the Best XI Team for his age group Jason helped the Tuzos Academy 02 Boys team advance to the title match at the US Youth Soccer National Championships and finished tied for second place in goals with four. Tuzos advanced to the National Championships by winning their age group in the Far West Regional League Championships. Jason led all goal scorers at this competition with nine. It was the experience of a lifetime. I could not have made it here without my fellow teammates and the support of my parents, Jason told Arizona Youth Soccer Association. The National Championships was a surprising event due to the amount of players that came together and the amount of people that came out to watch every game. Being on the Best XI Team is a dream come true because I worked really hard to get here and I can definitely say it s an honor.

MIGUEL ANGEL GARCIA, current Vice President of Univision Deportes Network, attributes his professional success to the Tuzos program. I come from a family of immigrants, he says. We were not as fortunate as others. Just like many immigrant families coming to the United States, it was a challenge. We lived in what was considered the most dangerous neighborhood in the south of Phoenix. As a child, Miguel joined what is now known as the Tuzos Soccer Program. This program not only taught me how to play soccer, but how to be a responsible human being, he has stated. My team and I focused on the games instead of the streets. The program encouraged us to not be influenced by drugs or violence. Tuzos Soccer Program guided us to focus on our studies and to have a broader future. As a result, I had a goal to fulfill the dreams of my parents and repay them by becoming a success story. As a young kid my aspiration was to work in television. Having 5 siblings and hard-working parents, it was difficult to send us all to college. I studied hard and through the Tuzos program, I found my first internship in television with Telemundo. I was granted a scholarship to Arizona State University, graduating with a Bachelor s Degree in Broadcast. All thanks to the program, I was able to obtain a job at Telemundo Network as a producer for the sports department. Today, I am living proof that the program that guided me and many others works. I am now the Vice President of Univision Deportes Network. Through this program, my team members and I have become success stories. I want to thank the Tuzos program for keeping children engaged in their studies and off the street. Let s keep guiding underprivileged children to have a brighter future.

During a special ceremony in 2008, the General Consulate of Mexico in Phoenix recognized the effort of the youth members of the Tuzos 94, a club team who had recently won the Arizona State Championships. We are very proud of their effort and they are an example for all the sportsmen of Arizona, General Consul Carlos Flowers Vizcarra said. I invite them to continue being endeavored and hope that they achieve their following goal. The Tuzos 94 went on to play in Las Vegas, NV where they participated in the Far West Regionals. This is a very large motivation for the boys and makes them realize the achievement they carried out and what they can do, assured Jesse Cadena, president of Tuzos. The expenses of the team s participation in that tournament totaled approximately $15,000 (between transportation, lodging, and feeding the players), with which the Mexican consulate offered to help. It is this type of support from our sponsors, along with the hard work of a lot of people connected with the club, that has led to both on-field successes as well as encouragement for our players. We are proud of our achievements and extremely thankful for each and every contribution made to our club.
Tuzos continually demonstrates its ability to develop outstanding players, prepare them to compete on a national stage and instill the importance of a quality education, said Arizona Diamondbacks owner, Ken Kendrick. Without Tuzos, many of these players might not have the opportunities that the club provides - I am proud to support their efforts. Thanks to these corporate sponsors, more kids will be able to register with the Arizona Youth Soccer Organization program.
