Overview ipestmanager is a web-based application that: Accessible from our District web site Provides educational information for teachers, staff, students and parents about pests, their habits and behavior and how to use IPM to keep them out of our schools Provides a means for teachers and staff to easily report pests in and around our schools Provides a means for Facility Services to efficiently track pest activity and analyze trends Provides a record of remedial action steps needed to solve pest problems including pesticide applications Provides a concise resolution statement for each pest problem Promotes sustainable IPM practices
ipestmanager Features Data can be easily searched, sorted or filtered to focus on schools, rooms, locations, pests or results Simple charts and graphs are easy to create within the application Exports simple PDF reports Exports data to Microsoft Excel for more detailed analyses or reporting Automatically sends notification email of new pest sighting to IPM Coordinators Flexible and self-managed All lists (locations, categories, action steps, resolutions, etc.), pest information and images can be edited and customized by application Administrator
But first why??? Traditional pest logs are simply not effective! Not very convenient Must be placed throughout the building Must be gathered frequently (weekly) in order for IPM Coordinators be to effective in handling new or developing pest problems Not effective at all for serious pest problems, e.g., wasps, rats, bed bugs, where an immediate response is needed Data must be manually compiled to create reports, identify problem areas and analyze trends

Maintaining Sustainability The success of an IPM program depends upon everyone s participation in the monitoring and reporting process. ipestmanager teaches people about pests and their behavior but more importantly, it helps to change people s behavior and that is how to minimize pests. Incorporated ipestmanager into our IPM Plan Offer continuous IPM and ipestmanager training Targeted IPM and ipestmanager training for specific groups, e.g., teachers, kitchen workers, custodians and maintenance personnel Analyze and publish pest reports Promote ipestmanager in newsletters and with posters in kitchens, classrooms, lounges, offices and other pest venerable areas
Pending Enhancements Create an expanded and more content rich pest library that is external to the application Move responsibility for entering action steps to the site level, i.e., IPM Site Coordinators (Custodians) Improve cost tracking Work Orders IPM labor costs, e.g., training Contracted pest management Create automatic notification for pesticide application Track IPM inspection reports Track pest activity found in monitoring traps Expand noxious plants and weeds categories for better grounds management Track and calculate pest management metrics related to grounds and turf care
