Cucchi III - Principal Heather Blum - Associate Principal Mark McLoughlin - Associate Principal Main Office (586) 797-1600 Attendance (586) 797-1699 Fax: (586) 797-1601 From The Principal... Dear Parents and Friends of Henry Ford II: Let me be the first to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. Please take the time to go over the newsletter and pay close attention to the upcoming dates for school activities and evening events. Aug 28 12th Grade Registration 8 am 11th Grade Registration Noon Aug 29 10th Grade Registration 8 am 9th Grade Registration Noon Aug 31 Freshmen Orientation 7 pm A Look Ahead Sep 5 AUG/SEP 2017 School Begins Sep 18th Open House 6 pm I am excited for the school year to begin and to get back to the routine of school. Our support staff has been hard at work all summer to make the building sparkle. In the October newsletter, I will share with you all our construction updates that have happened over the summer. There have been several. Registration packets should be arriving soon in your mailboxes. It is my expectation that all students attend registration; as it is crucial to the success of the opening of school on day one. Please note that it is not necessary for everyone to come at the start time of your assigned date. The first hour seems to be very busy and the last hour seems to be slow. If you do not want to wait in line, come the second hour of your registration time. Registration is: August 28, 2017 Seniors 8:00 10:00 a.m. Juniors 12:00 2:00 p.m. Oct 6 Homecoming Game 7 pm August 29, 2017 Sophomores 8:00 10:00 a.m. Freshmen 12:00 2:00 p.m. Oct 7 Homecoming Dance 7 pm Oct 12 Oct 12 1/2 Day Parent/Teacher Conferences Picture Re-Take Day Students who are unable to attend registration MUST go through the same process on the first day of school which may take 2-3 class periods to complete. Therefore, attendance on your assigned registration day is so important to a smooth start of the school year. During the registration process students receive their school ID s, have their picture taken, pick up their schedule, and pur- The mission of Henry Ford II High School is to involve family, school, and community to educate our students through a supportive environment and a stimulating curriculum.

From the principal (continued) chase a yearbook. A reminder to students and parents/ guardians: we sell student Homecoming dance tickets at this time. In the past, the dance has sold out. Please plan accordingly. We will provide an opportunity to purchase guest tickets the first week of school. We do not allow anyone over the age of 19 to attend the dance. Attention Freshmen and Freshmen Parents/Guardians: Our annual 9th grade orientation will be held on August 31st with a Welcome To Ford Pep Assembly beginning in the gym at 7:00 p.m. This is the night that we welcome students and parents to OUR school. The band plays, the cheerleaders and dance team perform and our mentors are fired up and ready to welcome the Class of 2021 to high school. Students get a guided tour of the school by their mentor making sure they know where his/her locker is located and have an opportunity to practice opening it as well. Students will also learn who to see if they have questions the first few days of school. While the freshmen are touring the school, the parents/guardians, the associate principals and I will go to the Performing Arts Center. We will speak about upcoming dates, our policies and procedures, and discuss what things you can do to support your student up to the time he/she graduates from Henry Ford II High School. We are very proud that in the past few years we have had at least 90% participation in this evening. It puts students and parents at ease and really is a great way to start off the senior high experience for the entire family! We are all the Ford II family. PowerSchool is another great resource for you as parents/guardians to monitor your student s progress, daily/weekly, and communicate with the teacher as soon as a question or concern arises. We DO NOT mail home Progress Reports or Report Cards at HFII due to 24-hour access to PowerSchool. Logins and passwords can be obtained in the main office. You may have heard that the high school bell schedule has been slightly modified for the upcoming school year to meet the legislative requirement for instructional time. Three (3) minutes have been added to the school day with our new dismissal time scheduled for 2:14 p.m. Please enjoy the remainder of the summer and come back well rested and ready to hit the ground running. Sincerely, Kenneth L. Cucchi III Principal All parents/guardians: We do not have an open house date yet. Once we do, it will be published on our HFII website. When we do meet, we will begin in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and then break out into a mock school day where you will have the opportunity to meet your student s teachers. This is the time to get an idea about the courses and expectations that they have for your student. The student/parent/teacher relationship is crucial to the success of the school year. Communication is a two-way street. Meeting my staff this night sets up that first line of communication. PRINCIPALS FALCON ADVISORY MEETINGS Parents are always encouraged and welcome to join the principal at his Falcon Advisory meetings held each month. Hear firsthand the issues and ideas that define the high school environment at Ford II. Meeting time is 9 am. 1st Meeting To Be Determined Are you ready to STRIVE?? TUESDAY - THURSDAY 2:15 to 3:15 In the Media Center OUR VISION: All students will be college ready as measured by the College Readiness Benchmarks by the time they graduate.
