From the principal (continued) chase a yearbook. A reminder to students and parents/ guardians: we sell student Homecoming dance tickets at this time. In the past, the dance has sold out. Please plan accordingly. We will provide an opportunity to purchase guest tickets the first week of school. We do not allow anyone over the age of 19 to attend the dance. Attention Freshmen and Freshmen Parents/Guardians: Our annual 9th grade orientation will be held on August 31st with a Welcome To Ford Pep Assembly beginning in the gym at 7:00 p.m. This is the night that we welcome students and parents to OUR school. The band plays, the cheerleaders and dance team perform and our mentors are fired up and ready to welcome the Class of 2021 to high school. Students get a guided tour of the school by their mentor making sure they know where his/her locker is located and have an opportunity to practice opening it as well. Students will also learn who to see if they have questions the first few days of school. While the freshmen are touring the school, the parents/guardians, the associate principals and I will go to the Performing Arts Center. We will speak about upcoming dates, our policies and procedures, and discuss what things you can do to support your student up to the time he/she graduates from Henry Ford II High School. We are very proud that in the past few years we have had at least 90% participation in this evening. It puts students and parents at ease and really is a great way to start off the senior high experience for the entire family! We are all the Ford II family. PowerSchool is another great resource for you as parents/guardians to monitor your student s progress, daily/weekly, and communicate with the teacher as soon as a question or concern arises. We DO NOT mail home Progress Reports or Report Cards at HFII due to 24-hour access to PowerSchool. Logins and passwords can be obtained in the main office. You may have heard that the high school bell schedule has been slightly modified for the upcoming school year to meet the legislative requirement for instructional time. Three (3) minutes have been added to the school day with our new dismissal time scheduled for 2:14 p.m. Please enjoy the remainder of the summer and come back well rested and ready to hit the ground running. Sincerely, Kenneth L. Cucchi III Principal All parents/guardians: We do not have an open house date yet. Once we do, it will be published on our HFII website. When we do meet, we will begin in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and then break out into a mock school day where you will have the opportunity to meet your student s teachers. This is the time to get an idea about the courses and expectations that they have for your student. The student/parent/teacher relationship is crucial to the success of the school year. Communication is a two-way street. Meeting my staff this night sets up that first line of communication.
