CB Hounslow Sports Club Creating New Sports and Recreation Facilities on Green Lane We value Fair Play, Respect, Equality and Opportunity for all

Introduction CB Hounslow Sports Club originated as a local football club, CB Hounslow United, which was established in 1989 as a result of Richmond Rangers disbanding. The club was named after our chairman s late father s company Cater Bank which sponsored the club at the beginning and membership is open to all local people and comprises all ages and abilities. The club now has the opportunity to move to develop new sports and recreation facilities on the old sports pitches on Green Lane, adjacent to Beavers and Meadows Estates in West Hounslow. The club believes this development will greatly enhance the recreational and sporting facilities for the local community and the surrounding area. Club Vision is: To become the leading Community Sports Club in the Hounslow area, providing sporting opportunities for all ages and abilities. We wish to develop the following new facilities: Three Adult Football Pitches Two mini soccer pitches Archery facilities Perimeter running track and sprints area Cycle training area Clubhouse with changing rooms and space for indoor activities such as; Yoga and Pilates, but also for coaching and training courses Why NOW? At a time when London 2012 will inspire so many people, the club wishes to create a sports club as a lasting legacy for the community. There is a strong need for a community sports club in this deprived area to help improve levels of health, reduce crime and anti social behaviour, develop new skills and improve community cohesion. The proposed area has been unused for many years and, as the club has its roots in this community, the Council is keen for the club to help revitalise the area. We are growing from a football club into a large community sports club and we ve already identified support from many community organisations and partners to help make this a reality.

What will our project achieve for the local community? We intend that the club will contribute to the local community in the following ways: Provide sport and recreation opportunities in a fun and enjoyable setting Improve health and well-being, Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, Create stronger and safer communities Improve educational attainment to help individual s employability, particularly for young people. We anticipate the club will grow from 290 to over 700 regular members, many coming from the nearby Beavers and Meadows estates, most of whom will not already be members of a local sports club. There will also be opportunities for more informal participation in recreational activities for many other residents in the area as the club is working with London Wildlife, River Crane Project and the Council Ecology Officer to improve access to Donkey Woods and the neighbouring paths with access to the London Outer Orbital Path (London LOOP). We hope our growth as a local sports club will also help us grow as a social enterprise (a local business re-investing any surplus money back into the club), as well as offering training and employment opportunities for local people. In summary, we hope the club will become a key focal point for the community; for the people both living and working in the area. Please can we have your support? As you can see, the club has established the foundations for a much needed community asset and we trust you ll understand our passion for this important project. If you d like to learn more about our plans, please come along to one of the following meetings: Tuesday 6th March (4-7pm) - Beavers Sports Lodge (Grounds of Beavers Community Primary School) Friday 16th March (4-7pm) - The Hub (Beavers Library and Sure Start Centre) Your views and input on the proposed plans will be most welcome at this formative stage. If you have any questions prior to the meetings, please contact Nigel Moore, CB Hounslow Club Development Manager 07766 497439, nigel.moore@srmnetwork.co.uk We very much hope you ll wish to support our club and its role in the community and look forward to meeting you. Yours in sport Frank James, Club Chairman Tel 07958 718930 Frank@BJMW.co.uk Website: www.cbhounslowunitedfc.com
