29 28 NOVEMBER 2015 SPEAKERS BRIEF PROFILE Prof. Dr. Jiri Dvorak, Switzerland Chairman FIFA Medical Research and Assessment Committee Professor Dvorak is well known for his significant role as Chairman of the F-MARC. Prof. Jiri also works at the Department of Neurology, Spine Unit at Schulthess Clinic in Switzerland. He published 190 original papers, several textbooks, review articles, and book chapters. He was part of the editorial board of FIFA Football Medicine Resource Kit in 2005 (1 st Edition) and 2009 (2 nd Edition). Dato Dr. Gurcharan Singh, AMN, DIMP,Malaysia Chairman, AFC Medical Committee Dato Dr. Singh, commonly known as Dato Guru, is a veteran sports medicine physician with over 30 years of involvement in sports medicine and anti-doping programs in Malaysia and internationally. He Chairs AFC Medical Committee and Hon. Director, Medical Department, AFC. A registered sports medicine physician on the National Specialist Register, Ministry of Health, Malaysia and admitted to the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia, has contributed vastly towards the development of sports science and medicine in Malaysia and Asia through education, conferences and research. He is a member of FIFA Medical Committee & FIFA TUE Advisory Group; FIFA Panel of Instructors for Sports Medicine and F-MARC. He is credited for the formation of Society of Sports Medicine, Malaysian Medical Association and launching the international postgraduate sports medicine programs. Dr. MehernooshSherarIrani, UK Dr. Mike Irani, a Consultant Rheumatologist / Sports Medicine Physician is currently a Fellow of both The Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Surgeons, England as well as Fellow, Institute of Sports Medicine and Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine. A regular external examiner for Royal Medical Colleges and Sports Medicine post-graduate programs is actively involved with the Olympic Movement since 1984. An Executive Board Member, IWF and Chair the IWF Medical Committee, TUE Committee and Doping & Infraction Hearing Panel. He has officiated at seven Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and a host of International Championships. He has several publications to his credit, presentations at conferences / seminars and a panel of instructors for Sports Medicine & Anti-Doping.
Dr. Martin Vaso, Switzerland Martin Vaso is a medical doctor and a lawyer in Switzerland. He is currently working for FIFA as the FIFA Chief Anti-Doping Officer and also a medical doctor at the Schulthess Clinic, Zurich Switzerland. Dr. Michiko Dohi Dr. Michiko is a member of the FIFA Medical Committee and AFC Medical Committee. She is also panel of FIFA and AFC Medical Officer which she is involved in various FIFA and AFC tournaments as Medical Officer cum Doping Control Officer. Dr. Michiko is a Medical Doctor specialized in Sports Radiology. Dr. She also work at Japan Football Association as Team Doctor from 2012 until now, member of the Medical Committee and Anti-Doping Sub-Committee. Currently the Deputy Department Director of apan Institute of Sports & Sciences. Prof.Yorck Olaf Schumacher, Germany Sports Medicine Physician Prof Yorck Olaf Schumacher completed his medical studies in Germany and South Africa. He obtained a specialisation in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine and was appointed Professor for Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine at the University of Freiburg, Germany. In 2012, he joined Aspetar. He has been the team physician for the German Olympic Team since 2000 and attended many international sporting events in that function. His research interest ranges from Sports Science and Physiology to clinical Sports Medicine, his recent focus has been Sports Haematology and the adaptation of the haematological system of the athlete to different environments. Dr. Shila Jain, India Principal Scientific Director National Dope Testing Laboratory -Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Shila Jain is Principal Scientific Director, National Dope Testing Laboratory, New Delhi, India (WADA accredited). A Gold medalist M.Sc. (Hons.)Biochemistry, Punjab University and Ph.D. from Post Graduate Institute and Medical Research (PGI), Chandigarh. She is first Indian sports biochemist to set up the department of sports biochemistry at NIS Patiala in 1983. She has acquired extensive training in Dope analysis from Moscow, China, USA, Japan, Germany, England, Austria etc. As an active researcher, she has authored a no. of scientific publications and attended conferences and seminars at national and international level over the last
35 years. She has been guiding Ph.D./MD students. Her special areas of interest include anabolic steroids and erythropoietin. Publishing Directory on Drug in Sports regularly since 1994, publishedfirst ever book in Hindi on drugs in sports titled KhelDavaonKa in Aug. 2000. Has scripted a video film on THE DOPING GAME which was telecast on Doordarshan and DD International channel. Dr. AlkaBeotra, India Scientific Director National Dope Testing Laboratory -Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. AlkaBeotrais Scientific Director, National Dope Testing Laboratory, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), Government of India, New Delhi. Vice President, Indian Association of Sports Medicine & Member, Doping Commission, Asian Federation of Sports Medicine. She is nominated as Executive Board member of World Association of Anti Doping Scientists (WAADS). She is Lead Assessor & Technical Assessor for ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation in the field of Chemical, Biological & forensic testing. She has 34 years of experience after acquiring Ph.D. from Dept of Pharmacology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (1981). Recipient of Gold medal (1981) & Silver medal (1982) of Indian Pharmacological Society for her research work in the field of drugs and was the Technical Expert for the London Olympics 2012 testing. Dr. Beotra published over 115 research publications in the field of drug testing, pharmacokinetics, psychopharmacology and immunology. She has conducted many workshops on anti doping in India & other Asian countries and also served as reviewer for various analytical & bio-analytical journals of repute. Dr. Beotra is member of various expert committees/groups under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission.
