Year 7 entry to Selective High Schools in 2019: Intention to Apply Government schools use a range of strategies to meet the educational needs of gifted and talented students. One strategy is selective high school placement which provides intellectual stimulation and an educationally enriched environment for gifted and talented students. Selective high schools cater for the specific needs of high achieving gifted students who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates at their own academic and social level. Selective schools help gifted and talented students to learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing educational materials at the appropriate level. For information about applying and the placement process go to https://education.nsw.gov.au/publicschools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7. If you would like your child to apply for selective high school placement for Year 7 2019, you may do so now. Applications close on 13 th November 2017. Offers for selective high school placement will be made on the basis of the Selective High School Test results and school assessment. The Selective High School Test will be held on 15 th March 2018.
