Cronton C. E. Primary School Believe Enjoy Succeed Together Newsletter Dear Parents Thank you to those parents who joined us this morning at St Luke s for our annual service to celebrate the start of a new year. The children sang brilliantly, gave excellent performances and their behaviour was as usual impeccable. This is a lovely service as we all share it together. Gymnastics Report On the 23 rd January, Joseph Turner, Matthew Sharkey, Jessica Sutton, Erin Jones and Isobel Sands from Y4 attended the Knowsley gymnastic competition at Kirkby High School. They have shown fantastic dedication and perseverance over the past few weeks to learn the two floor routines and the vaults, they performed them excellently on the day narrowly missing out on the medals. The children were fantastic and had a great afternoon. They even had the privilege of performing in front of Olympic athlete Beth Tweddle. Basketball Report On Monday 30 th January, Chris Chadwick, Matthew Schulz, Oliver Vale, Oliver Sheron, Jack Naylor and Sophie Buckley took part in the Knowsley Athletics finals. The children performed excellently and won all their group games scoring 13 baskets in the process and conceding only 3. Oliver and Oliver were outstanding in marshalling the defence, Matty, Chris and Jack were relentlessly up and down the court stopping and creating chances and Sophie played in attack scoring some very important baskets. They qualified from their group with a 100% record, (including two baskets in the last 15 seconds of one game to give us the win). They then won the semi-final with a very strong 4-0 performance and fully deserved their place in the final. We faced St Aloysius in the final who provided the toughest test of the afternoon, in a very tight end to end game there was not much to separate the two sides, but unfortunately St Aloysius had a bit more cutting edge in attack and ended the game victorious. The children all performed excellently and played with determination and sportsmanship in every game, they were a credit to the school and coming 2 nd best out the whole of Knowsley is a fantastic achievement, well done.
