Tickets are now on sale for the Adrian Schools Education Foundation s 8 th annual Outstanding Alumni and teacher mentor awards. The awards presentation will kick off the AHS Homecoming Weekend with a reception at 6:30 pm, Oct. 15 in the Julianne and George Argyros Performing Arts Center lobby and award ceremony at 7:30 pm in the theater at AHS. Tickets for the program are $10 and may be purchased in the Foundation and Alumni Office at AHS. Call 263-2911 for more information.
Maple City Driving School will conduct a segment 1 class at Adrian High School starting on Monday Oct 12th. The class will start right after school and be held in room a-100. You can pick up applications and information about this class in the high school main office.
Halloween is coming! Please donate a bag or several bags of Halloween candy to Key Club at lunch so they can help the elderly residents at Lynwood Manor pass out candy to area children soon. Help make Halloween fun for them!
The AHS fall blood drive will take place next Monday, Oct. 12th. If you are 16 or older, please sign up with Ms. Gilmore between classes, or in the cafeteria during lunch.
There will be a freshman leadership meeting every day after school in room A229 to discuss homecoming. If you cannot make it, stop by to see Mr. Guerra for more information.
Sign ups are now going on for winter sports. The winter sports include: Boys Basketball Girls Basketball Boys/Girls Bowling Boys Swimming Wrestling Competitive Cheer Gymnastics You must have an updated physical in the Athletic Office in order to try out and participate in any sport.
Are you a junior or senior interested in a career in public service? The United States Senate Youth Program is looking for outstanding students to attend Washington DC Week. Students will spend a week listening to major policy addresses by Senators, cabinet members, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, as well as participate in a meeting with a Justice of the US Supreme Court. Two students will be selected to represent each state. Applications are due by November 6. For more information contact the Counseling Office.
To get ready for Homecoming next week, there will be lunch sign ups for a relay race at the field pep rally that takes place after the parade. We need 6 students from each class to sign up to participate-see the student leadership table at lunch. Student leadership will also be selling tickets for homecoming activities to take place during lunches next week. Tickets are one dollar and will be randomly selected for participation.
Picture Retake day is Wed Oct 14 th. If you have not already done so, please make sure you have your photo taken even if you are not going to purchase pictures, everyone needs a photo for the yearbook and school ID's.
Despite The Maple Women's swimming and diving team's loss last night it was a very good meet. The Medley Relay of Nicole McCann, Chloe Wilson, Grace Harris, and Mariana Bernardo qualified for the state meet. McCann, Harris, Bernardo, and Childs also took first in the 200 free relay. Childs took first in the 200 and 500 freestyle as well. Chloe Wilson took first in the 100 breast stroke with a state qualifying time!, and McCann took first in the 100 backstroke. The maples next is Home vs Dundee on Tuesday October 13th.
The Freshman Volleyball team won 2 matches against Milan and 3 matches against Ann Arbor Pioneer yesterday. Top players included Lauren Watterson with 11 aces, Madelyn McKenzie with 11 digs, Therese Parker with 14 kills, Taylor Garcia with 20 assists and MYP player Lauren Watterson.
The Varsity soccer team fell at Tecumseh in a very hard fought match 3-0. Jacob Trentman recorded 8 saves in goal. Cameron Kuhn, Constantin Fischle, and Marco Mandujano all had strong games. The JV lost in a very exciting game, 3-2. Lucas Diaz scored both Maple goals. Collin Castleberry was in goal for the Maples.
