Innovations in curricular Design and Transaction Faculty of our college have played an active role in curriculum design and transaction. They have been participating at various levels in curriculum designing and discussion. Our senior faculty members are members of board of studies and other academic bodies of Mahatma Gandhi University. Peer group interaction, intellectual discussion on creative issues, cooperative learning, collaborative learning, seminars, project etc. are practiced in curriculum transaction. 5. Examination reforms Implemented The college has taken step to ensure objective, impartial evaluation of the students. The internal marks /grade are published on the notice board and the students are provided with the opportunity to raise their grievances if any. Student s performance and attainment is tested and evaluated through internal test, model examination, and evaluation of lesson plans, records, assignment and teaching practice class. Community Services Our college conduct activities which mobilize our students and community for need based community programme. The activities are as follows: Our student s served as volunteers to Mannam Kala mela. Preparation and distribution of instructional aid to practice teaching schools. Courses in which student assessment of teachers is introduced and the action taken on student feedback An evaluation Performa was developed by the college and a review of the feedback given by the students is carried out and suitable remedial measures are initiated. The Performa are given to the respective teachers for self-introspection and for the implementation of necessary changes. Students are provided with a grievance box and the grievances are addressed regularly. 24. Feedback from the stakeholders The college also arrange PTA meetings to get feedback from them based on the academic and administrative aspects of the college. The suggestion and feed back of the alumni is also collected. The college also takes feedback from the practice teaching schools about the performance of the students in the class and their behaviour and manners in school during practice teaching. 25. Unit Cost of Education Rs. 1,01,550 26. Computerization of administration and the process of admission and examination results, issue of certificates Administrative mechanism is computerized and so is the process of admission and examination results. Every department has been provided with computers with internet facility. 8

27. Increase in the infrastructural facilities Constructed a new multi-purpose auditorium in the 2 nd floor of the new block. Constructed toilets for girls. 28. Technology up gradation The general hall and seminar hall and all optional classes are equipped with LCD projectors and OHP projectors. The college has well furnished computer lab and technology lab. The students are given training in computer. The college also trains the students in using different types of projectors. 29. Computer and internet access and training to teachers, non-teaching staff and students The college is equipped with broad band internet connection and free access is provided to the students in the computer lab and the library. 30. Financial aid to students The college ensures that the students receive all fee concessions, scholarship and grants due to them from the government. 31. Activities and support from the Alumni Association An almni association is working in the college with the following office bearers (Ex.Members) K.J. Suresh(Secretary) & Valsala Devi, Predeep Kumar, Sritha Rajee The general body meeting of the Alumni Association was held on the second Saturday of January. 9

The important activities include: Orientation programme for the fresher s Distribution of cash awards to the college toppers and second toppers in each optional class. 32. Activities and Support from the Parent-Teacher Association PTA support economically backward students by providing financial assistance. PTA rewards the college toppers and optional wise class toppers with cash awards. 33. Health Service A well equipped health club is functioning in the college under the leadership of Sri. Asok.G, Associate Professor in Physical Education.The club organizes seminars and classes on yoga,health related topics etc. Blood group determination camp was conducted by the students of Natural Science Optional. 34. Performance in sports activities The annual sports meet was held on 22/5/2013. Students are divided in to four groups namely Iris, Daffodils, Bluebell and Emerald. Iris won the first place and Daffodils the second place. Rahul and Preethy won the Individual Cahmpionship for Men and Women respectively. In the inter collegiate athletic meet conducted by St. Joseph training college Mannanam, Kottayam Babu.K.P. secured second place for Long jump. Inter collegiate Badminton Tournament conducted by Titus II Teacher s college Thiruvalla Bindu.G and K.Rajeswari of our college secured first place. Bindu.G secured first place for inter collegiate badminton tournament conducted by St.John s the Baptist college of Teacher Education, Nedukunnam. 10

35. Incentives to outstanding sports person Winners in the intercollegiate competitions were given cash prize. 36. Student achievement and awards The college secured 100% pass in the University examination. Vineetha Raju secured third prize and A grade for story writing in the M.G University youth festival. Anju.R secured A grade for story writing in the M.G University youth festival. In the Inter Training College quiz competition conducted by our college Priya Soman and Arathi.S.Nairof our college secured the first position. In the Inter collegiate Elocution contest conducted by St.John the Baptist college of Teacher Education,Nedukunnam Reshmi.P.Nair of our college secured third prize. Our college team secured the first position for group dance competition conducted by Titus II Teachers college,thiruvalla and St. John the Baptist college of Teacher Education,Nedukunnam. 37. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Unit The guidance and counselling unit in the college organize seminars and counselling classes for the students. The unit organizes individual guidance for personal and academic problems and group guidance on career and educational aspect. 11

38. Placement Services provided to the students Career magazines are subscribed. Eminent resource persons are invited to deliver lectures on necessary skills required for written, oral or performance tests. A career corner is set up in the library and a bulletin board for displaying career news is kept in the library. 39. Development Programme for Non- Teaching Staff Training is provided to the administrative staff of our college. All staff is given training in computer. They are given training on modern methods of accounting,computer application,preparation of income tax statement and SPARK. 40. Good Practices of the Institution The college encourage the entire faculty to pursue research. Two faculty have Ph.D.Two faculty members have received fellowship under FDP,nine members are pursuing research leading to Ph.D. Teachers are encouraged to take major and minor projects. All classroom are equipped with modern technological devices. Preparation of Power Point by students. Value education classes are conducted. Daily Morning Prayer, Thought for the Day and Book Review by the students. Community oriented programmes. 12

State Council for Educational research and Training. District Institute for Education and Training. All Kerala Training College Teachers Association. 42. Action taken Report on the AQAR of the previous year Utilizing UGC grants, the college constructed auditorium. The college purchased computers projectors etc. Students were encouraged to use modern technologies in teaching. Backward students were identified and remedial instruction were given to them. 43. Any other relevant information the Institution wishes to add The college always strive hard to be in the forefront in the field of teacher Education.Daily morning prayer, thought for the Day and value based Education are the steps taken by the college to mould the personality and moral values of the students. 13

Technological skills and Competencies of our students and teachers for effective classroom were enhanced. 3. Outstanding achievement in university Examination 4. Value education class and training on life skill were instrumental in fostering the self esteem,positive attitude and mental health of students. 5. Increase in the library books,construction of an Auditorium,increase in technological equipment are milestone toward quality enhancement of the institution. 6. Faculty members attended refresher courses/workshops/seminars and presented and published their work for professional improvement. 14
