Thank You This would be the last IN LINK Bulletin for the year, and my last letter to parents for my tour of duty at White Sands Primary School. It has been a wonderful journey for the last 6 years. Building on the foundation laid by my predecessors, I am happy to see the school growing from strength to strength. We are confident that the merged school under the leadership of Ms Audrey Wong will grow further and scale greater heights in the allround development of the pupils. We would also like to thank you for your support at the recent WSPS 21 st Anniversary celebration which has contributed to the success of the event. Pupils, parents and staff of Coral Primary School who joined us for the event have expressed that they felt welcomed and had an enjoyable time. As we are progressing towards the end of the academic year, we would like to keep you updated on some key matters. 2. Schedule for Release of Report Books and Subject-Based Banding (SBB) matters Please take note of the following schedule: Date Activity Remarks Wednesday, 07 November Monday, 12 November Wednesday, 14 November Thursday, 15 November Issue of Primary 4 SBB Option Forms to parents Return of Primary 4 SBB Option Forms to form teachers Release of Report Books to parents Return of Report Books to C4RE teachers P4 Parents who wish to opt for SBB combination that differs from the school recommendation will be scheduled to meet school personnel on 12 November. For all pupils (except P6 pupils) 3. School Marking Day (cum P1 Orientation) and Promotion Day As mentioned in the IN LINK Bulletin (ILB / 05 / 2018), all pupils need not come to school on Friday, 09 November 2018 as it falls on the School Marking Day cum 2019 P1 Orientation Day. The school annual promotion exercise for pupils will take place on Thursday, 15 November 2018. The school will function from 7.30 am to 10.45 am. All Primary 1 to Primary 5 pupils will report to school. Pupils are to ensure that their report books and relevant materials are returned to the school as required. Primary 6 pupils need not report to school on Promotion Day.

4. Pupils progression to the next grade level 2019 Please be informed of the following arrangement for class allocation for 2019. There will be re-grouping of Primary 3 to Primary 5 pupils for next year. This is to facilitate interaction of pupils from both Coral Primary School and White Sands Primary School. No. Level Arrangement 1. Primary 1 to Primary 2 Pupils will progress as a class (en bloc). 2. Primary 2 to Primary 3 The classes will consist of pupils from both schools. 3. Primary 3 to Primary 4 The classes will consist of pupils from both schools. 4. Primary 4 to Primary 5 The classes will consist of pupils from both schools. The school will also take into consideration Subject-Based Banding. 5. Primary 5 to Primary 6 Pupils will progress to P6 en-bloc with school assigned Subject- Based Banding taken into consideration. Where possible, opportunities would be provided for pupils of both schools to interact for CCA and other non-academic subjects. 5. Prize Giving Day White Sands Primary will be having her Annual Prize Giving Day on Friday, 16 November 2018. The theme for this year is Tapestry of Excellence. The theme signifies the journey our pupils experienced to achieve excellence in our endeavour to provide holistic development. The programme for the day is as follows: Primary 1 - Primary 4 Primary 5 - Primary 6 Attire Prize Giving Ceremony: 7.40 am 10.45 am Only Prize Winners* are to report to school. They are to report to the Music Room by 7.20 am. Prize Giving Ceremony: 11.00 am 12.45 pm All Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils are expected to report to school. Prize winners* are to meet at the AVA Room by 10.30 am. All other pupils are to meet at their C4RE class by 10.30 am. Full school uniform (Pupils should not be wearing their PE attire) *Prize winners will be notified separately. The colour theme is gold or yellow. Parents of prize winners are also encouraged to dress according to the colour theme. Parents are requested to make necessary alternative transport arrangement where necessary. The school bus will fetch pupils to school as usual in the morning. The school bus will leave school after the Primary 1 to Primary 4 Prize Giving Ceremony at 11.00 am. Our congratulation goes to all who have put in their best effort, regardless of whether they are going up on stage to receive their prizes. We also wish to recognise parents, teachers and non-teaching staff for their dedication and hard work in support of the pupils growth and development.

6. Release of PSLE Results The 2018 PSLE results will be released either on Thursday, 22 November 2018 or Friday, 23 November 2018. There will be an announcement via a press release a few days before the actual date. Primary 6 pupils will report in their full school uniform to receive the results which are normally released at 11.30 am in the school hall. We strongly encourage all parents to accompany the children to collect the results as there will be announcements regarding online processing of secondary school application. 7. Update on Travel Plans As part of the school s proactive and preventive measures to ensure that the school is prepared for health related emergencies that may arise such as pandemic flu, we seek your assistance in updating the school on travel plans involving your children for the upcoming year-end holidays. All P1 parents need to declare the travel plans of their P1 children regardless of travel intent. A nil return is required. For P2 to P6, only parents who intend to travel need to declare their children s travel plans. Details on how to update your travel plans are found in Annex A. Please submit the travel plans by Wednesday, 14 November 2018. 8. 2019 School Hours Please be informed of the school hours for the new academic year. All pupils are also expected to be in school for flag raising ceremony, which will be at 7.40 am. Lessons will begin at 7.45 am. 9. 2019 School Uniform (Merged School) While the name of the merged school remains unchanged as White Sands Primary School, the school will be having a new crest to signify the merger of our school with Coral Primary School. While the merged school will continue with the same uniform design of the current White Sands Primary School, there will be a change in the school badge. As the current school badge is attached on the school shirt (or blouse) and PE shorts, the school will provide at no cost to parents one new school shirt (or blouse) and one PE shorts to each of our current Primary 1 to 5 pupils. Parents may collect the shirt (or blouse) and PE shorts from the uniform vendor during the year end sales on 22, 23, 26, 27, 28 November 2018 and 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 26, 27 December 2018. Parents may also purchase new school badge separately at a price of $3.00 (for a set of 2 badges). For parents who have successfully applied for MOE/School-Based Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), their children will be given 2 sets of school uniform and PE attire as part of the provision under FAS.

10. Updates on dismissal arrangements for 2019 Parents are requested to wait outside the respective school gates when fetching their children during school dismissal. Parents are reminded not to enter the school or wait at the foyer to fetch their children. To facilitate an orderly dismissal, access to the school bookshop and school-based student care centre will not be permitted 15 minutes before and after school dismissal time. For parents who drive to fetch their children, they will still be permitted to drive into the school compound to fetch their children from the school foyer. However, they will not be able to park within the school compound during school dismissal due to the unavailability of space. To facilitate a smooth flow of traffic at the school foyer, parents are requested to make arrangements with their children on the timing they will fetch their children. For the same reason, parents are also requested not to wait in their vehicles at the school foyer. 11. MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) Application for Year 2019 Parents are reminded to apply early for the 2019 MOE FAS. Application forms are available from the General Office. The eligibility criteria are as follows: Pupil must be a Singapore Citizen Family s Gross Household Income (GHI) does not exceed $2,750 per month or Per Capita Income (PCI) does not exceed $690 per month. Please note that if you have children studying in different schools, you are required to submit only one application form for all your children to only one of the schools. The school receiving the application form will inform you of the outcome for all the children. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by 31 December 2018. 12. First Day of School for 2019 School re-opens on Wednesday, 02 January 2019. We look forward to seeing our pupils well-groomed and properly attired when they return on the first day of school next year. In support of our efforts to be operationally-ready, there will be a temperature-taking exercise on Monday, 07 January 2019. Please ensure that your child has a working oral digital thermometer (ODT) for the exercise. A guide on how to perform the declaration can be found in the following page. To log in to the portal, please use the details as shown below. Login ID : P_(Your child s class in the format of level and class, followed by the last 5 characters in your child s BC). For example if your child is in class 6D and has the BC number of T1234567H, your user id would be P_6D4567H School Password : WSPS : parent01 (the default password, otherwise please use your personal password which you have changed previously on your first login) The portal works best with Google Chrome.
