Talent Search 9 th & 10 th graders who would like to attend the Career & College Fair at the Mill Casino on Wednesday, October 18 th, need to contact Mr. Kubli in Rm 133. The library will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 2nd-5th period INCLUDING lunch. We will only be open periods 1, 6 and 7 that day as we are hosting a Knowledge Bowl tournament with several schools in attendance. ASVAB- Curious about your dream job? Maybe interested in the military? Come take the ASVAB test and get your answers! Sign up in student services for one of two sessions available. We will be testing on October 11th in room 144 of the main building. _ The Talent Search Program will be making a campus visit to Oregon State University in Corvallis on Tuesday, October 17 th. If any ETS student is interested in making this trip, please see Mr. Kubli in Rm 133. The Marshfield High School Band Program will be hosting a Dinner Fundraiser just in time for Halloween. Please join us for Spooktastic! with the Marshfield Jazz Ensemble on Saturday, October 28th at 5pm at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute. Tickets are $25 each for a catered dinner prepared by Chef Torres, with live musical entertainment provided by our very own Marshfield Jazz Ensemble. There are only 150 tickets available, and are on a first-come, first-served basis reserved with payment in the form of cash or checks made out to Marshfield High School Band. There will also be Halloween-inspired mocktails available for purchase, and a silent auction will be held featuring attractive items donated by our wonderful community. Please note that we will not have access to booster seats and/or high-chairs. All funds raised will support the MHS Band Program, and put toward the purchase of new marching band uniforms, student audition fees for state and regional honor ensembles, and out-of-town program travel. Please speak with any Marshfield Band member, or Mr. Jerde (cameronj@coosbay.k12.or.us; 541-269-6658) with any questions you may have, or to purchase tickets. Thank you! GAMES/MAGIC CLUB: Are you interested in some fun and challenging competition but don t want to get all sweaty? Come out and play some board games, or Magic: the Gathering after school once a week! Socialize with your peers, meet some new people, and stretch your brain a little in the process. You don t need to bring anything

except an open mind and willingness to mix it up a little bit. Make sure you ve worked out a way to get yourself home afterwards as well. If you re interested, stop by and talk to Mr. Burgher in PH610. Days, times, and other details are still to be worked out, based on what sort of interest is shown. Looking forward to seeing you there! _ 50/50 drawing from last Friday s homcoming football game: NO one claimed the winnings of $372 for last week s 50/50 sales. If you have the matching ticket come collect your prize. The winning ticket number ended in 8278. See the athletic department to prove your winnings. Z Club will be meeting every Wednesday at lunch in Room 131 (at the end of the long hall that leads to the student services area). All students interested in doing service, developing leadership skills, and learning about careers should check out Z Club. Everyone is welcome to join. Z Club is also sponsoring the new Peer Helping program at MHS training will be starting October 6 during PAT. See Mr. Ashton or Ms. Sprague if you are interested in becoming a Peer Helper. _ Key Club is selling suckers for.50 ea., Grandma's Cookies for $1 ea. and ICE drinks for $1 ea. in the morning and at lunchtime in front of the main office. They are also available for purchase in room 40. All proceeds go toward purchasing a new play structure at the South 10th Street Park. You are invited to be a Marshfield Key Clubber Key Club is a student-led organization whose goal is to provide its members with opportunities to perform community service, build character and develop leadership. They learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions in the club. Our club meetings are every Tuesday during lunchtime in room 40. Bring a friend and your lunch. Treats will be provided. Come and see what Key Club is all about. For more info, see Mrs. Gulseth in rm 40. Go Ahead and Feed Your Feathered Friends Marshfield Key Club is selling homemade birdfeeders personally made by a club member. They are $8 each with a bag of bird seed or 2 for $15 plus bird seed. Your purchase will help with the rehabilitation at the South 10th Street Park. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

Hoop Group is back! A basketball open gym for boys and girls 1st-12th grade, Sundays, October 1-November 12 from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the gym at Prosper Hall. No session October 22. Join SWOCC Assistant Men s Basketball Coach Riley Grandinetti and get ready for basketball season. All skill levels are welcome from beginners to advanced players. The fee is $10.00 per session per player. Boys & Girls Club membership is not required. Pre-register at the Boys & Girls Club or register at the gym. Call 541-267-6573 for more information. TEEN GYM FRIDAYS Basketball Conditioning Fridays 5-6pm 8 th -12 th grades Basic health, fitness and basketball skills. Non-members are welcome to attend. Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon Gymnasium The youth Tennis Program will get underway on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the William J. Sweet Memorial Tennis Center, part of the Boys & Girls Club. Boys and girls ages 5-18, all skill levels, are eligible to participate. Kylee Woodman, local North Bend High School graduate with 18 years of tennis experience, will be the instructor. A current Boys & Girls Club membership is required for all participants.
