MONTHLY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2014 1. 4 th July 2014 - The new year Rotary Year started with a Bhajan by Mrs.Pushpa Devaraj at Robano, on the eve of first weekly meeting. 2. 5 th July 2014 FIRST BOARD MEETING of Rotary Year 2014-15 was conducted at Robano on 5 th July. The meeting was attended by 50 members including Rotarian s spouses. Effective discussions were held on our Global Grant Eye Hospital project and budgets were approved for various project expenditures planned during the year 14-15. 3. Installation of Interact and Kinderact clubs of Rotary Bangalore North was completed as scheduled below. A few photographs of installation event is as shown in our weekly bulletin DEEPA. 01. 3) First issue of our weekly bulletin DEEPA was released on 04/07/2014 4) 11/07/2014 - Induction of New members on Installation day Current strength of Rotary Bangalore North is 68 members. Two new Rotarians have been inducted taking the current strength to 70 members. Names of new members inducted are as follows : Mr.K.R.Rajashekar Proposed by Rtn.Shivaji Salagode Classification : Corporate Training Mr.Mohan Velan.C Proposed by Rtn.Prakash Gawankar Classification : Jute Products 5) 11/07/2014 Installation of Office Bearers of Rotary Bangalore North On 11 th July 2014 the office bearers for the year 14-15 were installed by District Governor Mr.Manjunath Shetty. The event was conducted at Hotel Solitaire. The evening started with an invocation by the famous classical duo Saralaya Sisters.

NORTHSTAR Souvenir was released alongwith weekly bulletin DEEPA during the course of the program. Following projects were launched : a) Joint project with IWC Bangalore North : appointing Computer Teacher for Palenhalli & Kattigehalli schools. Salary of Rs.50,000/- arranged by Rtn.S.P.Diwakar Chairman of TEACH project. b) Shoes & Books to students of Govt.Higher Primary School, Malegala Janatha Colony by Community Service Director Anne.Prathibha Incoming IW President. SHOES & BOOKS DONATED TO STUDENTS OF HIGHER PRIMARY SCHOOL, MALEGALA, JANATHA COLONY c) Acceptance letter to provide doctor on call (3-4 times per week) to Ashraya Seva, represented by Smt.Rani, arranged by Rtn.Ashok Daryanani.

d) Two tables and one cupboard donated to HM Govt Lower Primary School by Rtn.N.R.Gawankar. TABLES & CUPBOARD DONATED TO HM GOVT LOWER PRIMARY SCHOOL 6) 19/07/2014 - Rotaract Club office bearers Installation ceremony at MES Institute of Management The Rotaract club of MES Institute of Management for the year 2014-15 was installed on 19 th July 2014. The special Chief guest for the occasion was Rtn.Sethuram president Rotaract club Bangalore north, P Chandrashekaran Secretary Rotaract club Bangalore north and Director Youth service SP Diwakar Rotaract club Bangalore north were also present.

The function started with an invocation followed by welcome speech, next we had lighting of the lamp where all the dignitaries on the dais lighted the lamp followed by installation programme and oath taking ceremony where all the office bearers took oath which was read by the President. Directors: vocation- Vinaya R International - Deepak R Vikram Community Vaibhav K Club service Chethan M 7) 20/07/2014 INTERACT SCHOOL OFFICE BEARERS ORIENTATION PROGRAM HELD AT ROBANO An orientation program was held on Sunday, 20 th July 2014 at ROBANO for the Office Bearers of all the ten Interact Clubs promoted by Rotary Bangalore North. The program began on time at 10 am., and concluded at 11.30 am. Pres. Sethuram formally called the meeting to order after Sec. Chandrashekaran fixed the collar on him, gave his opening remarks and handed over the proceedings to Youth Service Director, Rtn. S.P Diwakar. Rtn. PP V. Subramaniam gave tips to the Interactors on how to carry out the administration of the clubs. Rtn. PP Vijay Anand informed the children about RYLA and the Braille project of Rotary Bangalore North and how the children could participate in it.

Rtn. P.C. Rao, District Director for Youth Service, gave information about the projects which the District was planning for the youth. Rtn. Sharada, District Chairman for Kinderact, gave a power point presentation on Youth Service and conducted some lively activities to promote working in a group. The President also highlighted the Million Books project of the District to create libraries in schools which do not have libraries, and invited participation from the Interact Schools. The students were eager to participate in both Braille and Books projects, with Poorna Prajna Sadashivanagar beginning with a contribution of 27 books brought by their Secretary Yash. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Interact Committee Chairman, Rtn. Prakash Gawankar. A total of 59 Interactors from 10 schools along with 12 teachers participated. Rotarians also participated in good numbers with Rtns. Gopalkrishna and Jawahar managing the registrations and Rtns. Janakiram, Shivaprakash, Mohan Velan, Shirish Nene and Varadaraju marking their presence. The Orientation Program acknowledges the contributions by Rtn. Ashok Daryanani who sponsored the sumptuous breakfast and former member L.S. Ananth who had sponsored the stationery for all participants from the schools. 8) 26/07/2014 INTER INTERACT SPORTS MEET The Rotarians of Rotary Banglore North conducted a sports meet for the schools where it has Interact clubs on Saturday, 26 th July 2014. The venue was Poorna Prajna High School-Sadashivanagar. A total of eleven schools participated including our Interact schools. The events were Basket Ball and Volley Ball for boys and Volley Ball and Throw Ball for Girls. The schools which participated were: Poorna Prajna High School-Sadashivanagar, Widia Poorna Prajna High School, Poorna Prajna High School-Yelahanka, Poorna Prajna High School-Krishna Nagar, Himamshu Jyoti Kala Peetha and Sri Vidya Mandir- Malleswaram, Little Lillys School-Mahalakshmi Layout, Triveni Public School and St. Mary s School Hesarghatta Road, Carmel School-Jayanagar and Gandhi Vidya Shala-Srirampuram. The meet helped the schools as a preparation meet before the District Level and Taluk Level meets. All the events were well contested.

The results were as follows: Basket Ball - Boys : Widia Poorna Prajna High School Winners and Poorna Prajna High School, Sadashivanagar Runners. Volley Ball Boys : Sri Vidya Mandir Winners and Widia Poorna Prajna High School Runners. Volley Ball Girls : Poorna Prajna High School, Sadashivanagar Winners and Gandhi Vidya Shala Runners. Throw Ball Girls : St. Mary s High School Winners and Poorna Prajna High School, Sadashivanagar Runners. The Sports meet was inaugurated by Rtn. B.K. Sudarshan, District Interact Chairman and our own Rtn. Shivaji Salagode, Assistant Governor was the guest of honour at the valedictory. Rtns. Pres. V.Sethuram, Sec. P. Chandrashekaran, K. Nagaraja, S.P. Diwakar, Prakash Gawankar, Gopalkrishnan, Gopal Murthy, Sudhakar Rajan, H.A. Upendra, Vinod Kumar, Chandraprakash and Innerwheel Sisters Snehal Gawankar and Indira Vinod Kumar were present. 11) CATARACT SURGERIES CONDUCTED IN JULY 2014 AT OUR ROBANO EYE HOSPITAL 12) FORTHCOMING PROJECTS LINED UP a) 1 st August 2014 PDG Rtn.Dr.Prithvi Raval speaks on Membership Development Quality vs Quantity Venue : Robano b) 2 nd August 2014 - Initial set of Braile books printed at our Robano Braile Centre have been handed over to Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind CA 1-B, 3rd Phase, 3rd Cross, J P Nagar, Bangalore 78 On 2nd August we have planned to visit this place between 2 and 3 pm as we would like to get associated extensively with this organization. c) August Second week Visit to Government Higher Primary School at Malagala Janatha Colony, Pakchsheela Nagara, Moodalapalya, Bangalore for distribution of 150 shoes and socks under TEACH initiative.
