FLIC NETWORK: WHAT IS IT? FLIC NETWORK is the programme aimed at Design and Illustration schools, at high schools teaching artistic baccalaureates, and at industry professionals. The aim of the programme is to promote the relationship between literature and illustration. 1. FLIC 9 NETWORK AWARD OBJECTIVE To identify young illustrators with talent, and to disseminate and exhibit their work in locations supported by the FLIC Festival, both nationally and internationally. ENTRANT CATEGORIES Junior: Students on the second year of an artistic Baccalaureate or the first year of an Illustration Training Course. Senior: Students on the second year of an Illustration Training Course or the third year of a Design degree. Profesional: Former students who have been graduated from the participating schools since 2016. * There is no minimum or maximum number of students who can enter the competition. THEME This year s theme is «LITERARY LANDSCAPES»: real, imaginary or symbolic places that can be found in the different literary genres. We propose a different approach to these landscapes through their reinterpretation, and we invite you to recreate the landscape legacy that has been passed down to us. HOW IT WORKS 1 FLIC Festival will provide the schools with the theme, the text and the support material that entrants should use. 2 An international jury will select a maximum of 40 works, from which they will choose 10 finalists for a special mention. From these finalists, the jury will select three works for the awards (one in each category). The selected works will form part of the touring exhibition that will visit various Spanish and European festivals. As a new feature this year, the jury will also select a school for special commendation in view of the overall standard of work presented. 3 We will announce the three winners of the FLIC 9 NETWORK Awards at the end of the FLIC Professional seminars, which will be held in Barcelona s Design Museum on 15 and 16 March 2019. The prize, which will be presented at the time the winners names are announced, consists of: SENIOR category: Participation in a European festival of illustration and literature PROFESSIONAL category: Exhibition of the work in an outstanding cultural venue in Barcelona, in 2010. JUNIOR category: An assortment of materials. The school with the special commendation for its overall work will receive an assortment of materials. 4 The ten finalists will be offered the chance to promote their work at the head offices of the FLIC Festival and other specialised venues.
2. ACCESS TO FLIC PROFESSIONAL: FLIC NETWORK PASS FLIC Professional is an international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral meeting that discusses the new paradigm of children and youth literature. The FLIC NETWORK PASS lets you: 1 Attend a specific master class for participating schools as part of the FLIC Professional programme. 2 Attend the other FLIC Professional conferences, subject to advance registration (until spaces are filled). 3 Take part in a round table for participating schools, each of which will be represented by one teacher and one student. FLIC will propose the discussion topic and moderate the debate. 4 Entrance to the prize-giving ceremony. 5 Access to the Welcome Party of the FLIC seminar. 6 Access to a chatroom with writers on the Read On website (Creative Europe Programme, to which the FLIC Network belongs) on the subject of the relationship between text and illustration.
HOW TO REGISTER Until 15 July 2018 Confirmation of the school s participation, indicating the approximate number of students entering the FLIC Network Awards. Processing the agreement. Until 6 September 2018 Confirmation of the exact number of students entering the FLIC Network Awards. Delivery of the signed agreement. 24-27 September 2018 Reception of the object for taking part in the FLIC Network Awards. Payment of the participation fees per student and the 50 fee for the school. Until 2 November 2018 Confirmation of the number of students requesting a Network Pass to attend FLIC Professional 6 November 2018 Deadline for receiving the works at the FLIC Festival offices. 3 December 2018 Announcement of selected works 15 and 16 March 2019 FLIC Professional Seminars. Presentation of prizes and new and specific curricular proposals for the schools in the Network. USEFUL INFORMATION Each school is responsible for the cost of sending works to the festival and their subsequent collection The Network Pass for students who wish to attend FLIC Professional costs 5 per student. Entering the FLIC Network Awards costs 3 per student to cover the costs of the material and admin of their participation For each group of 25 students, two teachers are entitled to free entrance to FLIC Professional. Any other teachers accompanying the group are entitled to a discount of 50% on the standard ticket price, which cannot be added to those of the Network Award. Each of the two proposals allows a maximum of three students for each group of 25 to be subsidised Participants in the professional category will receive the materials at the adress indicated at the time of registration, payment on delivery.
