We have had a busy start. The students have returned well prepared for another excellent term. Edudance Lessons began Tuesday 2nd of May and it was great to see our students smiling faces as they learnt the first few steps of their dance. It is a wonderful program which finishes with a Pre Primary to Year 6 school dance concert on Thursday 29th June 1.45pm. Specialist Program Activities Art Extension (TAGS) - Some students in Year 3 and 4 have been working on Art Extension with Ms De Palma. Examples of their great work can be seen in the Performing Arts Area. Science Hatching Project - This week we received 12 eggs. Eight have already hatched. Ms Harken followed a stringent application process to gain approval through the Department of Education to have the hatching program at the school. The students have been delighted by their arrival and are learning about a life cycle. This is an excellent Science topic. Music - The Senior Choir will present at the Melville Sing Festival on the 25th May at the Melville Rec Centre. They are working hard to prepare and are very excited about being able to represent the school. Ms McBain is looking forward to taking them. Physical Education - This Monday the students will engage in Jump Rope For Heart from 2-3pm. Ms Kelsey is also working on organising the School Cross Country for the 15th June. NAPLAN NAPLAN testing for Year 3 and 5 students will commence on Tuesday 9th May and finish on Thursday 11th May. Catch up testing will be available on Friday 12th May. NAPLAN has been aligned to the Australian Curriculum: English and the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics. The best preparation for NAPLAN is a continued focus on teaching the curriculum. On April 4, 58 students and 6 staff members were given the opportunity to attend the performance of Hachiko at Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, through their Schools Inclusion Program. The Schools Inclusion Program was created by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and was made possible through the generosity of Fremantle Ports who are specifically committed to offering positive experiences to schools in the local area. The program provides subsidised ticketing to students, so they can experience life -changing experiences, such as seeing live theatre.
