Copacabana Public School Newsletter Excellence in a vibrant, caring learning environment Principal: Ms Cherie Bourke Pueblo Street Copacabana NSW 2251 Ph: 0243821766 Fax: 0243811427 email: copacabana-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au Term 1, Week 4 20th February 2014 Message From the Principal Dear Copacabana Families, Once again we have started the year on a very busy note. The children are settled into their 2014 classes and the teachers are very pleased with the behaviour and attitude towards school that the children are presenting. Keep it up Copa kids! Our newest enrolments in Kindergarten are doing a magnificent job. They are already learning their sounds, sight words and numbers. Their growing confidence around the school has meant that some have been sent to the office with a buddy and have made it back to class telling of their adventures! We have displayed their photos in the office, so come and have a look to see if you recognise anyone. Text book buying day was well supported by the parents. However, if you have not yet paid for your child s text book, please see the ladies in the office to finalise your payment. Our meet the teacher afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for parents and teachers to exchange information. If you were unable to attend the afternoon, please contact the class teacher if you have any questions. Many classes handed out an information sheet to accompany the afternoon. These information sheets can also be found on class blogs or the school website. the 24 th February is school photo day. Please ensure your child is in correct summer school uniform and is ready to smile for the camera. If you are seeking a family photo of your children, please get an envelope from the front office so this can be organised. House captains are asked to bring their house captain shirt to change into before their house captain photo. Practice those smiles kids! I attended the P&C meeting last and it was great to see some new faces there. The P&C fulfil a wonderful role within the school and have provided many terrific resources for our children to enjoy. Last year they purchased new chairs for our technology room which were greatly appreciated by Mrs Goffett and the children. They are holding the P&C AGM on 11th of March and I would recommend you attend if you can. 21 st February is our Leaders Induction Ceremony. Captains, Perfects, House Captains,

Message From the Principal Cont... Technology Monitors and SRC Representatives will be presented with their badges and house captains shirts. It is a very special assembly as it officially inducts the new leaders into their roles. I am looking forward to being a part of this very special assembly for our leaders. The Senior Education Director for our area, Mrs Karen Jones, is also looking forward to attending this assembly with the wonderful leaders of 2014. The assembly will begin at 1.45 in the school hall. Ms Bourke has asked me to apologies for her absence from school. Unfortunately she has broken her ankle and is finding moving around quite difficult. She is hoping to return to work as soon as possible and we hope she has a speedy recovery. Keep up the terrific start to the school year Copa Kids. You are making your teachers jobs very enjoyable due to your behaviour and attitude. We are fast approaching our first Values Assembly that will highlight the values of Honesty and Integrity. A huge thank you to all classroom teachers and office staff for all your hard work for this term. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Looking forward to a great year. Annette Sutton Relieving Principal. P&C AGM 11th March at 6.30 pm a huge welcome to all new Copacabana parents. Looking forward to seeing everyone there
