Brook Community Primary School Newsletter 16 November 2018 Thank you to all the parents and children who stayed last Friday for the Rickshaw challenge. Sadly, the Rickshaw was running late but we did get to meet Pudsey bear! This week has seen the house captains and vice captains lead house assemblies about anti-bullying. We were also wowed by the Homewood Dance Dash today, thank you to everyone for donating. Have a great weekend! Parents Evening Mighty Oaks and Little Acorns Parents Evening for Mighty Oaks and Little Acorns will take place on Wednesday 21 November (3.30 7.00 pm and Thursday 22 November (3.30 6.00 pm) in the School Hall. Big Acorns Parents' Evening for Big Acorns will take place on Thursday 22 November (2.30 7.00 pm) in the School Hall. Young Oaks Parents Evening for Young Oaks is postponed until next term when the new class teacher commences. As there will be no parents' evenings, we would like to invite parents to come and look at children's books and classroom displays after school on Wednesday 21st November. At pick up time, please come into your child's classroom rather than wait on the playground. Booking forms are in the school office for any parents that still need to register their time slots. Please be considerate of other parents so if you feel you need longer than the 10 minutes allocated to speak with the teacher or have matters you believe are of a sensitive nature, please talk with staff in the office so alternative arrangements can be made. Primary School Places for September 2019 If you have a child born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015, the application process for primary school places will open on Monday 5 November 2018. You need to apply online at www.kent.gov.uk/ola before 15 January 2019. For further information, please visit the website www.kent.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

Parking Just a reminder that parents should not park in the staff car park at any time, including when picking up from Clubs/After School Club. Caterlink Survey Caterlink have requested that we ask parents to complete a short survey regarding school dinners. Whole School Trip to the Pantomime Letters have recently been sent out with information on the whole school trip to see Cinderella at the Marlowe Theatre. Payment on School Money/Permission slips should be received by the school office by Monday 19 November. Please note that this year, due to several new pupils joining the school, there are no spare tickets for parents. SCHOOL CHRISTMAS LUNCH WEDNESDAY 12 DECEMBER 2018 Roast turkey with chipolata sausage, sage and onion stuffing, and gravy OR Feta, Spinach and Cranberry Parcel Roast potatoes, carrots and peas medley Chocolate and Orange Christmas Cookies Cinnamon and raisin bread/cranberry Bread Letters will be sent out in book bags this week. If you would like your child(ren) to have a School Christmas Lunch, please complete the slip on the letter and return to the School Office by Friday30 November. No bookings can be taken after this date as food orders have to be placed.

School Dinners Caterlink would like to remind parents that school dinners should be booked and paid for at the beginning of the week. Caterlink operate a no debt policy so parents must pay in advance. Many thanks. Netball Club Please note that there will be no Netball Club next week (Wednesday 21 November) because of Parents Evening on that day. Non School Uniform Days for Christmas Fayre Contributions Friday 7 December Chocolate contributions please. Christmas Fayre Tuesday 18 December From 2.00 pm 4.00 pm Santa s Grotto, Sleigh of Booze, Christmas Raffle, Chocolate Tombola, Christmas Cake Raffle, sale of homemade Christmas decorations plus lots of Christmas games. Refreshments will also be available. The next meeting of FOBs will be at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 20 November in the School Hall. Children in Need Thank you to everyone who arrived at school today in spots and/or Children in Need related clothes, and who donated to the cause. We also had some special guests, a dancing group from Homewood School, who came to visit as part of their Dance Dash to raise funds for Children in Need.

School Attendance Whole School Attendance for the term is:- 95.05% Last week:- Attendance Awards Attendance Ted was awarded to Little Acorns.. Punctuality Pup was awarded to Young Oaks. Well done to those classes. This year, we are aiming to achieve 97% for our whole school attendance.
