It is very important that you open it and contact me with any questions or concerns you are having about what is to come. The next month will be here and gone before we know it and I do not want you to miss important deadlines pertaining to the Expo. Please do not wait until the last minute to ask your questions. Reminder that June 28 is the last day to have your exhibits for both static and livestock registered in FairEntry. Those instructions were included in the above mentioned papers. I am so excited to see everything you have been working on this year through your exhibits. Thank you to all who helped with Clothing and Communications Day on May 13. It was a great day and I am very proud of your accomplishments. Please be sure to return any paperwork requested from your awards by May 26. Again, great job representing Calhoun County! There will be no newsletter for the month of July. I will instead be sending out individual letters pertaining to your individual fair entries if I still need information from you before the Expo on July 5. If you have any questions about anything in this newsletter or other 4-H items, please give me a call at 712-297-8611 or email me at tmacke@iastate.edu. Pullorum Testing for Poultry- It is now required that ALL birds being exhibited at the Calhoun County Expo be tested, regardless of their source. The only exception is if a flock is doing routine monitoring. Thus, birds that come from a certified flock LOSE their status the instant they arrive at a new site and need to be tested to be exhibited. Pullorum testing will be done at the Lake City Vet Clinic by Dr. Armbrecht again this year. The following dates are dates Dr. Armbrecht has available for testing. Please call his office at 712-464-8911 to make an appointment on one of the dates listed. Walk-ins are not welcome, you must have an appointment. The test is then valid for 90 days and will cost $0.75 per bird. Once you have your birds checked, you will need to contact the office and provide the leg band number from the leg band that is put on by Dr. Armbrecht. No poultry will be permitted on the Fairgrounds without the leg band. ***NOTE: THESE DATES HAVE CHANGED FROM LAST MONTH S NEWSLETTER!!*** MAY 26, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 1, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 2, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 15, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 16, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 22, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 23, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 26, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 27, 2017 1 5 p.m. JUNE 28, 2017 1 5 p.m. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - County Youth 4-H Council For the 2017-2018 4-H year, we will again be requiring any Senior 4-H member interested in being part of the County Council to attend a mandatory meeting after submitting your application.
