Youth of the Year Celebration 2018 2017 Youth of the Year Finalists ABOUT THE EVENT Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito in a celebration acknowledging teens ages 14-18 for their achievements in leadership, service and academic excellence. They exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people. The evening will include: night horse racing, silent and live auctions, various themed entertainment, wine pull, sit down dinner and dancing. Youth of the Year Celebration has become our signature event, focusing on the youth and families we serve while raising much needed funds to support the over $400,000 in financial aid we provide annually as well as bridge the gap between the modest fees we charge and the real costs of our programs and services.

We provide children a place to call home during the hours kids need us most. Each year, Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito welcomes new sponsors and in-kind donors for our annual Youth of the Year Celebration and fundraiser who share in our mission of providing POSITIVE activities to local youth. As a sponsor, your support allows children to learn, grow and develop healthy lifestyles within a safe, nurturing environment. Your generous donation helps bridge the gap between our modest fees and the real cost of our programs and services to the over 10,800 children and families who count on us each year. Over $400,000 was allocated last year in financial aid towards our after school and specialty programs for the children/families who needed us the most. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with over 6,500 members from North Coastal San Diego County. Our service reach provides facilities, classes and camps to over 10,800 youth annually throughout various areas of San Diego. Our seven clubhouses offer diverse programming and exceptional services ranging from After School Programs, Summer Adventure Camps, Pardee Aquatics Center, Big Ei8ht Middle School Sports, Carmel Valley Montessori School, Youth Arts Academy and The Centers for a Healthy Lifestyle. Our Summer Adventure Camps program allows campers ages 5-15 to experience a fun filled, active summer in a safe environment with skilled staff to ensure a rewarding summer camp experience. After School Programs Our seven branches provide diverse activities in our after school programs that meet the interests of all young people. Core programs encourage activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable kids to enhance self-esteem and fulfill their potential. Youth Arts Academy The Youth Arts Academy offers music classes, rock band classes, private lessons, dance classes, photography classes, and a theater and dramatic arts program. Through YAA, youth ages 5-18 have access to a myriad of quality programs designed to stimulate their growth and creativity, while expressing themselves through performing arts.

In 2003 when schools in our community lost funding for middle school sports, the BGC of San Dieguito stepped in to ensure that physical activity and teamwork would continue to be a part of our kids lives. Our program now supports approximately 1,000 student-athletes each year from the following areas: Earl Warren in Solana Beach, Diegueno and Oak Crest in Encinitas, and Carmel Valley & Pacific Trails in Carmel Valley. We offer nine different sports appealing to both boys and girls in Basketball, Soccer, Track & Field, Cross Country, Flag Football, Volleyball, Field Hockey, Wrestling & Golf. On average, underserved or minority children ages 5-14 are most at risk for drowning. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14. The BGC of San Dieguito offers programs such as Swim Lessons to help educate and enhance the lives of all children despite their family s financial ability; teaching them the importance of learning how to swim from certified instructors in a safe and supportive environment.

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito Tax ID# 95-2470435 Middle School Sports BIG EI8HT Middle School Sports conference serves approximately 1,000 student-athletes from Earl Warren in Solana Beach, Diegueno and Oak Crest in Encinitas, and Carmel Valley and Valley Middle School. Big Eight features nine sports to include: girls volleyball, cross country, soccer, flag football, basketball, girls field hockey, wrestling, track & field, and golf. Pardee Aquatics Center The Doug & Marianne Pardee Aquatics Center, located at our Harper Branch in Solana Beach, is home to the nationally recognized Rancho San Dieguito Swim Team and Shores Youth Water Polo. Youth Swim Lessons are offered year-round. Our Aquatics Center features two regulation length 25 yard pools.

During this program, teens are able to engage in College Nights every Monday night where guest speakers inform teens about the different aspects of Colleges and Universities as well as the importance of the college decision making process. Mentors also help with financial aid and scholarship applications, and prepping for the SAT s. In addition, teens make several trips to local Southern California colleges throughout the year to get familiar with college campuses and experience what college life has in store for them. Many of the teens attending this program, will be the first in their family to graduate high school and attend college.

Programs include: music classes, rock band, private lessons, dance classes and theater. The BGC San Dieguito Center for a Healthy Lifestyle was created to encourage children and adults to make good decisions for their own health and the well being of the planet. With a farm to table approach, our classes offer skills and knowledge ranging from growing techniques in a working organic garden to hands on experience of culinary techniques: providing them a life-long understanding of how what we eat effects our health, longevity and the world around us.
