1 Udergraduate Degree Programs This sectio of the Catalog provides details owalsh College udergraduate degree programs ad the requiremets of all bachelor s degree studets, icludig professioal core, program core/major, cocetratio, ad elective courses. Admissios procedures ad requiremets, as well as graduatio requiremets, are also icluded i this sectio. Walsh College bachelor s degree programs iclude: Bachelor of Accoutacy (BAC) with cocetratios i: Certified Public Accoutat Certified Maagemet Accoutat Bachelor of Busiess Admiistratio (BBA) with majors i: Accoutig Processes Fiace Geeral Busiess Maagemet Marketig Bachelor of Sciece i Iformatio Techology (BSIT) Special Notes It is recommeded that studets meet with a academic advisor prior to erollig i a bachelor s degree program to fialize their specific curriculum pla. Advisors are available at all Walsh College campuses. Studets should schedule a appoitmet prior to registerig for their first semester. Oce erolled at Walsh College, studets may seek academic advisig through the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office ad/or career couselig through the Career Services office. All udergraduate degree programs must be completed withi 60 cosecutive caledar moths (five years) from the first semester of erollmet at Walsh College, as desigated by the first semester atteded o the studet s Walsh College trascript. If a studet chages their major or degree program, the studet has 60 cosecutive caledar moths i which to complete the ew major or degree program startig with the semester i which the program chage occurred. Extesios to this time requiremet will oly be grated upo review of the request by the director of Admissios ad Academic Advisig i cojuctio with the academic departmet chair. Studets may be required to complete additioal coursework ad/or update to the curret Catalog year ad degree/program requiremets. Studets who do ot eroll for four cosecutive semesters will be required to reapply for admissio ad should refer to Readmissio to Walsh College for iformatio o the required time frame to complete degree requiremets. Studets o a academic program may choose allowable electives for the same academic program that are offered i future Catalog years. Studets are ot required to update to the future academic program/catalog year to eroll i the ew elective. BAC ad BBA studets are eligible to take a maximum of six semester credit hours of approved graduate-level coursework applicable to their udergraduate degree program. Course requiremets vary by degree program. All required courses are listed i each degree sectio ad must be completed to fulfill graduatio requiremets. A miimum of 127 semester credit hours (icludig credits trasferred ito Walsh College) must be completed to ear a bachelor s degree. Geerally, a miimum of 45 semester credit hours must be take i residece at Walsh College. See Acceptace of Equivalet Credit for additioal trasfer credit optios. Admissio to Walsh College Udergraduate Programs Admissios Procedures To apply to ay Walsh College udergraduate degree program, a admissios applicatio must be submitted alog with a o-refudable applicatio fee. Former Walsh College studets are required to resubmit a admissios applicatio, but are ot required to pay a secod applicatio fee. Applicatios ca be submitted at Admitted studets ca begi their studies at the start of ay academic semester. Admissios applicatios will be accepted util the last day to register for classes for the semester i which the applicat wishes to eroll. A applicat s admissios status will be determied upo receipt of all required documets. Every attempt will be made to process the applicatio i time for admitted studets to eroll i their iteded semester. To facilitate the admissios process, applicats are ecouraged to submit studet or uofficial copies of trascripts from all colleges atteded, alog with the admissios applicatio. Applicats will be cosidered for admissio whe the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office receives evidece of attaimet of the miimum admissios requiremets. Full admissio to the College will be grated oly upo receipt of all official trascripts ad required documetatio. A idividual may be admitted o a cotiget basis upo review of uofficial trascripts. A studet s admissios status will remai cotiget util receipt of all fial, official trascripts ad fulfillmet of miimum admissios grade poit average requiremets. Studets admitted cotigetly will be allowed to register for their first semester. All fial, official trascripts must be received before a studet will be permitted to register for their secod semester at Walsh College. It is the resposibility of the applicat to cotact all colleges/ uiversities curretly ad previously atteded ad request that official trascripts be set directly to Walsh College. Copies of 14

For iformatio o iteratioal trascript evaluatio ad admissio to the College for those idividuals pursuig a F-1 Studet Visa, please see the sectio etitled Iteratioal Studets. After receivig the applicat s trascript(s), the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office will evaluate trasfer of academic credit based upo all previous college coursework take at the 100 or 1000 level ad above. Ay discrepacy betwee official ad uofficial trascripts will result i the adjustmet of ay previously oted equivalecies ad/or trasfer credits, ad may affect eligibility for admissio or chage a applicat s admissios status from cotiget to deied. Geerally accepted trasfer policies are practiced alog state ad federal guidelies. Upo completio of the evaluatio, a letter will be set to the applicat reflectig the status of their applicatio ad admissio to the College. Applicats ca cotact the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office durig this process to iquire about specific policies ad procedures or the status of their applicatio. A applicat may eroll i ay semester withi 12 cosecutive caledar moths from their iitial semester of admissio to Walsh College. Applicats will be required to follow the admissios ad program requiremets of the catalog year i which they iitially eroll at Walsh College. If a applicat does ot eroll ad complete at least oe course withi 12 cosecutive caledar moths followig admissio, they must reapply for admissio. Applicats who reapply may be required to resubmit all official trascripts ad related documetatio to Walsh College. Admissios Requiremets For cosideratio for admissio to a Walsh College udergraduate degree program, a applicat must: Have a miimum eterig cumulative grade poit average of o a scale; all previous college/uiversity level coursework will be computed i this calculatio. Successfully complete, with a grade of C (2.000) or better, a miimum of 60 semester credit hours (90 quarter hours) of coursework at the 100 or 1000 level or above. At least 30 semester credit hours (45 quarter hours) of the miimum 60 semester credit hours must be i liberal arts coursework. The liberal arts coursework must iclude oe course i Eglish compositio or writte commuicatio from a regioally accredited U.S. istitutio ad oe course i itermediate algebra or higher-level mathematics placemet. All academic coursework cosidered for use i meetig admissios requiremets or for use i establishig direct equivalet trasfer credit must be from a istitutio accredited by the Higher Learig Commissio (HLC), Middle States Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (MSCHE), New Eglad Associatio of Schools (NEASC- CHIHE), Souther Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (SACS), Wester Associatio of Schools ad Colleges (WASC-ACCJC, SCUC). Credits completed outside of the Uited States must be evaluated by a agecy that is a member of NACES ( Acceptace of Equivalet ad Trasfer Credit Prospective studets are ecouraged to schedule a appoitmet with a Walsh College academic advisor to develop a trasfer pla. This trasfer pla will iclude idetifyig trasfer equivalecies to meet admissios requiremets ad for required courses. Studets ca obtai trasfer equivalecies by visitig the Walsh College website at or the Michiga Trasfer Network at org. Applicats with equivalet credit to required coursework i their iteded degree program at Walsh College may trasfer a maximum of 82 semester credit hours of freshma/sophomore (100/1000 level ad above level coursework) to Walsh College. Trasfer of credit above 82 semester credit hours for a maximum of 91 semester credit hours will oly be accepted from a accredited four-year istitutio for equivalet juior/seior (300/400 level ad above) level coursework at the trasfer istitutio ad at Walsh College. Academic departmet chairs will review trasfer coursework o a case-by-case basis for approval ad equivalecy. Trasfer coursework must have bee completed with a C (2.000) or better i order to be cosidered for equivalecy. Certai coursework may oly be awarded equivalet credit if the specific trasfer course was completed withi 60 caledar moths prior to the semester of admissio. Applicats who received a udergraduate degree from Walsh College ad choose to pursue a secod udergraduate degree may trasfer up to 91 semester credit hours toward the secod udergraduate degree program. Credit for Extra-Istitutioal Learig Walsh College awards credit ad/or course competecy waivers for documeted post-secodary-level extra-istitutioal learig. Extra-istitutioal learig is defied as learig that is attaied outside of the sposorship of legally authorized ad appropriately accredited post-secodary educatio istitutios. Reliable ad valid measures of learig outcomes are used to assess ad grat such awards. Whe applyig for admissio to Walsh College, a studet may request credit for learig already acquired i settigs described above. The request will be evaluated as part of the admissios process. Documetatio verifyig attaimet of college-level learig is required. Walsh College follows the America Coucil o Educatio (ACE) recommeded guidelies ad scores to award academic credit for approved Advaced Placemet (AP), College Level Examiatio Placemet (CLEP), ad DANTES/DSST exams. Approved academic credit will be trasferred to Walsh College as geeral credit. Walsh College may determie possible equivalecy to required coursework through ACE recommedatios, accredited commuity college acceptace of credit, ad/or academic departmet chair review. ACE recommeded academic credit for military credit is listed o a official JST (Joit Services Trascript), CCAF (Commuity College of the Air Force), or CGI (Coast Guard Istitute) trascript. Uofficial copies of trascripts may be submitted for the iitial admissios evaluatio process with official trascripts required for full admissio as oted i the Admissios to Walsh College sectios of the catalog. Credit hours categorized as L = Lower Level; U = Upper Level; ad G = Graduate Level are acceptable ad may be reviewed for possible equivalet credit. Readmissio to Walsh College If a udergraduate studet has ot erolled i ay courses (as desigated by the last semester atteded o the studet s Walsh College trascript) for 12 cosecutive caledar moths, the studet must reapply for admissio through the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office. At the time of readmissio, all coursework will be evaluated based o curret admissios requiremets; required coursework ad acceptable trasfer equivalecies; miimum grade requiremets for trasfer ad graduatio. Time limitatios for eligibility/trasferability as determied by each academic area may apply. Readmitted studets will be resposible for the degree requiremets outlied i the Catalog year that they are readmitted ad will receive a Program Pla detailig their degree requiremets. Studets who are grated credit for previously completed courses at Walsh College may be required to complete their program i a period of time ot to exceed a maximum of 60 moths from iitially startig at Walsh College. Trascripts of studets who have bee readmitted to the College will reflect all courses take, credit hours attempted, ad grades received while at Walsh College, eve though previous coursework with a grade below C (2.000) may ot be couted toward the curret degree program. Vetera studets who were deployed ad reapply for admissio may petitio to be readmitted uder the same academic program ad graduatio criteria i affect at the time of deploymet. A copy of the studet s deploymet paperwork ad legth of stay will be required as part of the readmissio process. Studets i this situatio should cotact a Veteras Certifyig Official to provide the deploymet paperwork so that their academic file may be updated. Upo retur from duty, it is highly recommeded that the vetera review the curret ad former programs with a advisor to see which program best beefits the studet. If the vetera opts to move to the ewest program, all admissio ad policies of the ewest catalog will apply ad the studet may ot switch back. Studets who have bee academically dismissed or placed o academic probatio must meet with a advisor i the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office to discuss eligibility for readmissio. Please refer to the sectio o Academic Stadig prior to reapplyig for admissio. Cosideratio of all prior activity, icludig studet coduct, will be reviewed durig evaluatio ad may be grouds for deial of readmissio. Cocurret Erollmet A fully admitted studet may be eligible for cocurret erollmet while begiig classes at Walsh College. Cocurret erollmet allows ew studets who are erolled at a trasfer istitutio to complete credits while attedig Walsh College. Cocurret erollmet may affect a studet s ability to receive fiacial aid; studets are ecouraged to cotact the Fiacial Aid office prior to cocurret erollmet. Upo admittace to Walsh College, a studet iterested i cocurret erollmet is required to meet with a academic advisor to determie cocurret erollmet eligibility as well as to sig the Cocurret Erollmet Agreemet Form prior to the ed of their first semester of attedace at Walsh College. Resposibility for adherig to course ad time limit requiremets as outlied i the cocurret erollmet agreemet resides with the studet. Approved studets are required to follow the pla for takig courses at their trasfer istitutios as outlied i their siged cocurret erollmet agreemet; ay deviatios from this pla must be approved i advace by the director of admissios ad academic advisig. Studets approved to take coursework through cocurret erollmet are fully resposible for meetig all course prerequisites prior to registerig for ay Walsh College courses. The studet is resposible for requestig that official copies of college trascripts documetig proof of successful completio of cocurret erollmet courses be set to Walsh College. Course(s) determied eligible to be take as a part of the cocurret erollmet agreemet must be completed before the studet s fial semester prior to graduatio at Walsh College. The Records, Registratio, ad Vetera Services Office will ot complete a graduatio audit util all fial, official trascripts have bee received. After the first semester of erollmet at Walsh College, the cocurret erollmet optio will ot be grated. Cocurret erollmet approval will ot be exteded to curret studets as a meas to replace guest studet status. Walsh College reserves the right ot to accept courses that were completed at a trasfer istitutio ot listed o the Cocurret Erollmet Agreemet Form. ACC 201, ACC 202, ECN 201, ECN 202, IT 201, IT 202, IT 203 ad IT 204 must be take at a trasfer istitutio prior to erollmet or through cocurret erollmet. Commuicatio Placemet Exam Iformatio All ew udergraduate studets will be required to take the Commuicatio Placemet Exam. Studets who take COM 210 at Walsh College will take the placemet exam durig COM 210. Studets who trasfer i a equivalet to COM 210 will eed to take the placemet exam prior to registerig for COM 320, Busiess Commuicatio Methods. Studets who pass the placemet exam will be eligible to eroll i COM 320. COM 320 is required to be completed withi a studet s first ie credit hours at Walsh College. It is highly recommeded that studets take the placemet exam immediately upo beig admitted to Walsh College. Failure to do so may result i delayig a studet s graduatio as COM 320 is a 16

Studets who do ot pass the placemet exam will be required to take COM 300, Commuicatio Essetials, a oe credit hour course desiged to ehace studets writig skills. Studets will be eligible to eroll i COM 320 upo successful completio of COM 300 with a grade of P. Studets are ot charged a fee for the placemet exam; however, studets must take the exam i a proctored settig. The placemet exam may oly be take oe time ad is ot repeatable. The Commuicatio Placemet Exam will assess basic writig skills i three areas: Grammar ad mechaics Style Orgaizatio ad developmet Studet Learig Outcomes At the completio of COM 300, studets will be able to: Compose messages that display orgaizatio of thoughts based o a sythesis of credible iformatio; Write seteces ad paragraphs usig correct grammar, spellig ad puctuatio; Develop writte messages that display appropriate toe ad style for iteded audiece ad; Produce brief busiess documets that are clear, cocise, well orgaized, ad properly formatted. A complete evaluatio will be required before the studet is admitted ito the desired degree program. Udergraduate courses already completed at Walsh College will be evaluated for appropriateess for the ew degree/program. The studet will the be placed o the most curret program of study ad a ew Program Pla will be created. All curret admissios requiremets ad policies will apply. Bachelor s Degree Miors A studet may choose a mior while pursuig a bachelor s degree at Walsh College. A mior is comprised of 12 semester credit hours i a specific major/disciplie (accoutig, fiace, maagemet ad marketig). Studets must follow all course prerequisites. A miimum of six of the 12 semester credit hours must be take i residece at Walsh College ad completed prior to graduatio. A grade of C (2.000) or better is required i each course couted towards the mior; a cumulative grade poit average of C (2.000) is required i all courses withi the disciplie. The mior will be reflected o the studet s trascript. For a listig of the courses required to declare a mior, the studet must meet with a advisor ad complete a Bachelor s Degree Mior Declaratio Form. A directed study or itership will ot be couted toward meetig the requiremets of a mior. Double Majors/Dual Udergraduate Degrees Dual degrees are ot available at the udergraduate level, but a studet may pursue a double major at Walsh College. All required program core, major, ad/or required elective coursework withi both majors must be completed prior to graduatio. The professioal core courses for at least oe of the degree programs must be completed if both majors are ot withi the BBA program. I the istace that the studet is pursuig the Bachelor of Accoutacy degree ad a major withi the BBA or BSIT programs, the studet must complete all courses required for the Bachelor of Accoutacy degree, plus complete all courses required for the secod major. The studet will be awarded oe degree, the Bachelor of Accoutacy, ad the studet s trascript will reflect the two majors eared. The followig degrees/majors caot be completed as double majors: The Bachelor of Busiess Admiistratio i Accoutig Processes ad the Bachelor of Accoutacy. The Bachelor of Busiess Admiistratio with a major i Geeral Busiess ad ay other udergraduate degree or major. No-Degree Udergraduate Coursework A idividual who meets the udergraduate admissios requiremets is eligible to take courses at Walsh College as a o-degree udergraduate studet. All course prerequisites must be met. A idividual iterested i takig courses as a o-degree studet should complete a No-Degree applicatio ad follow the same procedures as a applicat to a bachelor degree program. A o-degree studet who applies to ay Walsh College udergraduate program will be held to all admissios requiremets uder the catalog year i which the idividual applies. No-degree coursework that is a required or elective course as part of a degree program will be applied ad moved to the studet s udergraduate trascript. Udergraduate Degree Programs Bachelor of Accoutacy (BAC) The Bachelor of Accoutacy (BAC) degree program at Walsh College cosists of a specialized sequece of coursework i accoutig, with related busiess admiistratio topics. The coursework is desiged for those iterested i eterig the accoutig professio ad iterested i the Certified Public Accoutat (CPA) licesure or Certified Maagemet Accoutat (CMA) certificatio. All accoutig studets must take all 17

Bachelor of Busiess Admiistratio Majors BBA Accoutig Processes (ACP) The Accoutig Processes major is desiged to provide a basic busiess educatio, a basic exposure to taxatio, ad a thorough exposure to the preparatio of fiacial statemets. The ACP major prepares studets for a o-maagemet accoutig positio i corporate, small busiess, or o-public accoutig. This program is ot desiged to optimally prepare studets for the professioal accoutig examiatios.
