3 Research Profile: Business Administration Management & Marketing inter-organizational networking and interdisciplinary relations in organizations consumer-, business-to-business and service marketing research activity is largely empirical and uses a broad methodological spectrum Finance company evaluation, model-supported analysis of the reaction of capital costs to changes of debt- and distribution policy and to changes in the tax burden. Accounting Empirical and logical-analytical discussion of audit practice. Auditing of the going concern assumption, the expectation gap, the determination of materiality thresholds, the group audit as well as the auditing of sustainability reports. Current standard setting processes, e.g. the reform suggestions of the EU green paper Taxation Impact of national and cross-border taxation on business administrative decisions, business taxation systematization and tax policy, meaning the optimal design of business action parameters under consideration of the taxation. Information Systems analysis, modeling and optimization of business processes drafting and implementation of appropriate IT systems design of multi-business value-adding structures 3

13 FACTS Faculty Prof. Dr. Markus Heintzen Markus Heintzen is a professor in public, administrative and tax law. Before joining Freie Universität Berlin in1997, he taught public law at the University of Halle/Wittenberg. During 2007 and 2009 he served as Dean of the Law Faculty at Freie Universität Berlin. He is a visiting professor at Georgetown University and cooperates closely with colleagues from Japan, Italy, Russia and United States. He published legal commentaries and papers on different subjects of public law, especially on constitutional law, administrative law and tax law. Prof. Dr. Jochen Hundsdoerfer Jochen Hundsdoerfer is a professor in tax accounting. Before joining Freie Universität Berlin in 2005, he taught tax accounting at University of Bochum. He is a guest professor at European School of Management and Technology, Berlin and is member of the editorial board of Business Research and department editor of Journal of Business Economics. Research interests: taxes and corporate decisions, behavioral taxation, tax accounting. Publications in Scandinavian Journal of Economics, European Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Economic Psychology, Review of Managerial Science and prestigious German research journals (Steuer und Wirtschaft, Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung). 13

14 FACTS Faculty Prof. Dr. Dr. András Löffler András Löffler is a professor in banking and finance at Freie Universität Berlin since Before, he taught at Universities of Hannover, Erlangen-Nürnberg and Paderborn. He was a visiting scholar at Wharton School, Philadelphia and the University of California, Los Angeles as well as at the Universities of Vienna and Brisbane, Australia. He published a well-known textbook on Corporate Valuation. Research interests: Capital Asset Pricing Model, taxation and corporate finance, decision theory. Publications in Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Economics Letters, OR-Spectrum, Theory and Decision. Prof. Dr. Daniela Lorenz Daniela Lorenz is an assistant professor in finance and business taxation since May She earned her Ph.D. at Freie Universität of Berlin. She was visiting research scholar at Stern School (New York University) and at Yale University. Research interests: taxes, corporate finance and firm valuation. She published her papers mainly in prestigious German research journals (Steuer und Wirtschaft, Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung). 14

15 FACTS Faculty Prof. Dr. Paul Pronobis Paul Pronobis is an assistant professor in accounting at Freie Universität Berlin since May In 2012, he was also a visiting scholar at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, USA. He earned his Ph.D. at HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management and gained professional experience as a Senior Manager Accounting in the automotive industry as well as a Senior Audit Assistant in an audit firm. Research interests: performance reporting, financial statement analysis, earnings management, ownership structures and auditing. Publications in Corporate Ownership and Control, Problems and Perspectives in Management and prestigious German research journals (e.g. Journal of Business Economics, Die Wirtschaftsprüfung ). Prof. Dr. Klaus Ruhnke Klaus Ruhnke is a professor in financial accounting and auditing at Freie Universität Berlin since He was a visiting professor at Aarhus School of Business, Denmark. He is cofounder of the European Auditing Research Network (EARNet) and member of its scientific committee. He has published well-known and awarded textbooks on financial accounting and auditing. Research interests: Audit process and audit regulation, International Financial Reporting Standards. Publications in European Accounting Review, Auditing A Journal of Theory & Practice, Accounting & Business Research, International Journal of Accounting and International Journal of Auditing), best conference paper award (6th EARNet Symposium). 15
