In this course, the theoretical economic analysis will be combined with empirical data and case studies. Students will be offered an analytical framework for understanding the emergence of China as a super economic power in the past three decades as well as its major challenges lying ahead. ECO3213 China, Hong Kong, and the World Economy CRN382 This course aims to analyse the main problems emerged during the integration of Chinese economy with the international economy, and the interactions of Mainland Chinese economy with the Hong Kong s economy. ECO3214 Globalization and Economic Integration CRN385 This course aims to familiarize students with the cause, pattern, and nature of the globalization of production of goods and services, which is taking the form of greater division of labor, increasing specialization, greater trade and capital flows, and keener international competition. ECO4203 Applied Econometrics CRN390 This course introduces you to the science of econometric modeling as applied to economics, business, and all other branches in social sciences. You may also regard taking this course as learning how to use a tool or a professional technique, very useful for the wide range of careers you plan to pursuit. ECO4305 International Trade CRN392 This course will equip students with a basic knowledge of the principles and tools of trade theory and policy. SSC2113 Linear Algebra CRN721 This course focuses on basic Linear Algebra used in econometrics and in social research. It will cover some basic techniques of matrix arithmetic and algebra, and in particular matrix multiplication and solution of n linear equations. Emphasis will be placed on applications of key concepts.

The impact of China s entry into the world economy on both domestic economic growth and the other developing, as well as industrial economies is also discussed in detail. The labor market offers excellent job opportunities for those with skills in finding, exploiting and analyzing raw data. Data analysis is not restricted to engineers. On the contrary, because they are equipped to guide research and interpret results, profiles that combine a curriculum in social sciences with some ability to process statistical data are highly prized. This course will give you the basics of econometrics and will teach you how to use statistical analysis software. Two valuable lines that you will be able to add to your resume. Because social sciences make extensive usage of data analysis Do you plan to apply for a Master s or a PhD program after you get your BA or BS degree? Students will be expected to develop practical perspectives on financial policies and government regulations, and be able to articulate implications for future financial development and practices in both Hong Kong and worldwide. Term 2 CLC9013 Comparative Economic and Social Systems CRN277 This course aims at providing information on principles, organization, and performance of historical and contemporary economic systems. Topics of discussion include, but not limited to, theory of market capitalism, theories of socialism in its various forms, and the emergence of new transitional economies. CLC9016 Contemporary Socio-Economic Issues CRN286 This course provides an introduction to contemporary socio-economic issues using socioeconomics as an analytical tool. Socio-economics is an emerging interdisciplinary field of social sciences that combines economics-based and sociological research methods. From street crime to global climate change, we are surrounded by problems that can be analyzed with socio-economic principles and practices. In this course, we mainly focus on examples that are relevant to our everyday life.
