2 Theme of Organised By: ENSERVE: LET S BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW - Modern Paradigm for Societal Progress IISWBM at Kolkata provides one of the foremost post-graduate programme in Energy Management in the country along with Environment Management, Health-care & Hospital Management and Transportation & Logistics Management, together instanced by the Government of India as Public Systems Management (PSM), the first of its kind in India. The observance of this day started by IISWBM with Energy Club in 2000 along with some leading industries in the region, later joined by India s first Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers, USA, world s largest body of energy professionals, and other National, International, Government and Non-government organizations. This year, along with above, for the first time, a team of twenty members will be joining from HNU Germany, having partnership with IISWBM. Venue: The Indian Institute of Social Welfare & Business ( ) College Square West, Behind Calcutta University Kolkata, West Bengal , India Introduction: IISWBM- The First B School of India, was constituted on 25th April, 1953 by a resolution passed by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. The Institute has successfully reached its Diamond Jubilee Year, signifying 60 years of eventful journey in management education in India since that day. The Government of India, Department of Posts in recognition of 50 years of glorious existence of the first B-school in the country, released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on IISWBM, on 25th April, 2004 in New Delhi. IISWBM hosted the first Energy Club in 2000 and the first AEE Chapter in 2003 and AEE Student Chapter in India. The Chapters boast of securing the international awards in the various categories in each of the last sixteen years i.e. since the year of its inception in The Chapter so far has received more than 30 International Awards, including the International Award for Best Chapter Overall Performance for five years and facilitated more than 34 international students scholarship todeserving students in the country. 1

3 Objective: The aim of this ENCON Day Program is to bring together of all the leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars, professionals, Engineers, manufacturers and consultants world -wide working or studying in the field of Energy management to one platform to interact and participate in the deliberations. The recent developments and researches will be consolidated and conclusions will be arrived at. The essence and conclusions of the deliberations will be communicated to the concerned authorities for implementation through exchange and share the experiences and research results on all aspects of Energy Management, in global and Indian context. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Energy Management. The focus will be on the important role of nuclear power, as a low-carbon base-load energy source option, in a sustainable energy-mix for addressing the growing energy needs of emerging economies like India. It is imperative to focus on all possible measures to mitigate the effect of global warming and climate change, and renewable power is a proven low carbon technology option. Activities of the Organisation: To organize technical workshops for information sharing and exchange. To create awareness campaigns on energy efficiency. To organize promotional campaign of Energy efficient products To recognize and reward ideas and works in energy efficiency practice. To propagate the idea and concept of energy efficiency among other interested associations. Creation of Jobs and Job Referrals To impart the knowledge of energy management and energy efficient practices among budding future energy managers. To promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry. To foster cooperative action in advancing by all lawful means the common purposes of its members and promote activities designed to enable the industry to be conducted with the greatest economy and efficiency. To afford due consideration to and expression of opinion questions affecting the industry and to hold Meetings for the presentation and discussion of energy related subjects. To cooperate with other industries, organizations and government. To conduct or engage in all lawful activities in furtherance of the foregoing purposes or incidental thereto. To affiliate with and promote the objectives of the Association of Energy Engineers. 2

4 The seminar provides a National Forum to discuss Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization, and Storage The session covers the recent developments in the capture, utilization and sequestration of CO 2, including the advances in novel materials and technologies for CO 2 storage and conversation into value added chemicals.
