12 P3 READING PROGRAMME All P3 classes will participate in the Reading Programme using Novels. There are 8 titles. Students follow a schedule and will read all 8 novels by the end of Term 4. Parents to help monitor that your child reads the novels provided. A child who READS will usually WRITE well.

14 TIPS FOR HELPING YOUR CHILD Ensure that your child completes his/her corrections and learns from the mistake/s made studies for spelling/dictation sets aside time for homework, especially in completing the Learning Sheets & Supplementary Booklets Encourage your child to READ widely across different genres. Parents are encouraged to role model reading for your child and discuss stories read with him/her.
15 TIPS FOR HELPING YOUR CHILD Supplementary booklets Comprehension Vocabulary Cloze Grammar Cloze Joining Sentences/Synthesis Encourage your child to revise the exercises marked in the supplementary booklets on a daily basis. READ when there is no homework for the day. Sign his/her work after checking.

25 Learning Sheet To gather students responses to a specific question, statement or a set of instructions, with a short write-up to assess their understanding of the concepts. Example: You have a wire of length 40 cm. Make a four-sided figure with the largest area. Draw or use words to explain your answer.
26 How to Help Your Child Get your child to: Show you the whole process of solving the problem, not just the solutions, i.e. explain the steps and sequence Understand the problem initially and how to make sense of the problem Look at alternative methods and then choose the most appropriate method Reason out his / her solutions Show all workings clearly and label the number equations Check his / her answers
