2 Part II Course Details 1. Abstract (A 150-word description about the course) Mould and die making is one of the most important linkage industries of the plastics and metals industry which support the consumer products manufacturing. The aims of this course are to introduce to the students the basic concepts of tool design and develop their technical abilities to supervise a modern tool design office. Upon successfully completing this course, the students would gain an in-depth understanding of the principles and acquire basic technical skills concerning (i) design of moulds and press tools and dies for plastic and metal products in the watch, toy and electronic product manufacturing sectors; and (ii) the design of jig and fixture for manufacturing 2. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) (CILOs state what the student is expected to be able to do at the end of the course according to a given standard of performance.) List and use the general principles involved in mold and die design. 2. Demonstrate the application of the relevant principles concerning the design of jig and fixture for manufacturing 3. 3 3. Teaching and Learning Activities (TLAs) (TLAs designed to facilitate students achievement of the CILOs.) Consultation Students meet the teaching staff on an individual or small group basis in his/her office for clearing doubts related to lectures or lab works hour per week will be scheduled as consultation hour for clearing doubts of students who can meet the teaching staff on an individual or small group basis in his/her office. When the class size exceeds 50 students, an additional consultation hour will be provided and the students will be divided into two groups. 4. Assessment Tasks/Activities (ATs) (ATs are designed to assess how well the students achieve the CILOs.)
