1 The Plane Scoop A publication of the Central Valley Aviation Association Spitfire Epilogue In this issue By Morris Garcia Page To close out last month s discussion about the British Spitfire; here s how a British nobleman and pilot described this beautiful aircraft. I know I fell in love with her the moment I was introduced that summer day in I was captivated by her sheer beauty; she was slimly built with a beautifully proportioned body and graceful curves just where they should be. In every way to every young man she looked the dream of what one sought. Mind you, some of her admirers warned me that she was what mother called, a fast girl, and advised that no liberties should be taken with her until you got better acquainted. I was warned to approach her gently but once safely embraced in her arms I found myself reaching heights of delight I had never before experienced. 1 K5054 Prototype Restored Mark 1 Spitfire Based on that description, I guess that s why male pilots always refer to their airplane as, She. I have not been able to find a Lady s description of the Spitfire but I m sure it would be very interesting. We will spend most of our time during the September 2nd meeting covering the Remember When event. Editor September 2017 Mark 24 Spitfire Note that the last of these amazing fighters was still in service in 1955; 10 years after the end of World War 2 and well into the age of jet fighters. Truly a testament to the genius of R.J. Mitchell and the timeless design he created!

City will pay for all expenses. In process of getting a flag, John Pugliese has contacted a trumpet player about playing at October 30 th event. Flyby by Pat Napolitano. Invite veterans and Veterans Home in Fresno. Possible Color Guard. John Durant calling for volunteers for September event. ( Remember When ). Morris told us about his and John Durant s trip down to Flabob. Arnie Schweer reported on car, raffle and Mustang. Flyers promoting Remember When thru Chamber of Commerce. Mary King will take a flyer to the Clovis Chamber of Commerce. New Business: If 648 hangar is not rented by September 1, CVAA can use it per Michael Musca of the City of Fresno. Sold 2 tickets for Rod Machado speech from the website. Joseph Oldham said that the electric airplane will be at the Remember When event. Tom Litton reported that he may be able to get advertising from AOPA e-pilot for maybe $ Remember When ads. On AOPA, EAA, and Social Flight. Pat Napolitano, Morris Garcia, John Durant, Tom Litton, and Joseph Oldham said they will each donate $ Tom Litton also urged members to call their representatives to vote no on HR2997 (FAA privatization) Mark Cannon suggested several possible field trips.
