We sincerely thank you for your interest in Westside Co-op where our desire is to provide an enriching and inspiring learning time in a loving and encouraging Biblical setting. We strive for excellence in all things, as befitting good stewards, which we pray will be reflected in all aspects of our co-op from the quality of instruction and supervision to the quality of our guidelines and organization. A co-op is completely dependent upon the volunteer efforts of its participating families, so each family s commitment is vital to our success. We are constantly encouraged by the many wonderful families who have partnered with us in this ministry, and see the direction of our upcoming co-op year as the express Handiwork of God. Our goal is to keep our organization uncomplicated, so you ll find a short list of guidelines in this information packet. Westside Baptist Church is generously allowing us to use its facilities and equipment out of their love and support for our ministry of home schooling, thus our fees are simply reimbursements for supplies used at the church and in individual classes you register your children to take. I Peter 4:10 Our Mission The goal of Westside Co-op is to combine our diverse gifts and talents to provide our children with curriculum enrichment and life skills development in a Biblical and socially edifying setting. Because our gifts and abilities come from God, we stand on the inerrancy of the Word of God, in its sufficiency to answer all issues of life, and its infallibility as our rule of faith and practice; and in Salvation by Grace through Faith in Christ alone. Class Schedule and Structure Our co-op will meet on non-holiday Mondays of each month from September-November and February-April for a total of 20 weeks each year. Families may register their children in programs from grades PreK-12. All students will have a snack period each co-op session and the option of staying for lunch. Please refer to the schedule of classes for more information on class options for all students in grades K-12. The goal of all our classes is to foster a love for learning in every child regardless of his aptitude. We sincerely want to see all of the children enjoy exploring new ideas and feel comfortable trying new skills in a constructive and encouraging setting. Understanding that each child has a core curriculum load he is carrying at home on a daily basis, our classes have been specifically geared as hands-on settings, so outside class work will be kept to a minimum. However, teachers may offer additional course work sufficient to satisfy the requirements of an academic credit or credits. Such a decision and undertaking will be solely up to the teacher and will not be administrated by the board of Westside Co-op. Fees Because we desire to minister our gifts voluntarily to one another, the only fees will be actual material costs which are minimal. Each teacher will state any materials fees for his or her class and will provide a list of the materials each student should obtain on his own prior to the start of classes in September. Families should pay all fees for each registered class at the time of Orientation in August, and no later than September 1. A one-time yearly co-op administrative fee of $75 per family to cover costs of general use items such as cleaning supplies, classroom teaching aids, and limited copying expenses is also due at registration. Parent involvement

3 Parents are expected to remain on church grounds and participate in some volunteer capacity during each co-op session. Parents who are not teaching may work on our building care team or actively serve on the Competitions, Socials, Field Trips, or Fund Raising Committees, or be part of our Nursery or Pre-School programs. Anyone not serving in a volunteer capacity will be subject to a $200 fee. Parents are expected to take full responsibility for their children while on church grounds. Therefore, any discipline issues will be referred to the parent. Upon registration, parents should communicate any special needs their children may have, whether physical, mental, or emotional, including the regular administration of prescription medication. Should medication be needed, it will be administered only by the parents and never by teachers or assistants. For the safety of all our children, parents will be asked to communicate in advance if an adult other than the co-op parents will be taking children from the premises at any time during co-op or at the conclusion of a co-op session. Nursery A nursery will be available for infants and toddlers to age 3. For the peace of mind of nursery attendants, we ask that coop parents and not siblings collect children from the nursery. Student conduct Students are asked to maintain modest dress and a respectful, Christ-honoring decorum towards each other and their teachers. All co-op members are asked to treat the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Westside Baptist Church with care and remain in buildings and areas specifically designated for co-op activities so as not to disrupt church business. Compensation for damages, whether purposeful or accidental, will be the sole responsibility of the families of the children involved. Expulsion from the Co-op While we sincerely hope there would never be a need for expulsion from the co-op, families who choose not to abide by the policies of Westside Co-op may be expelled without refund of fees paid for the current co-op year, at the discretion of the Board of Westside Co-op.

Qualifications of Membership Members will be legally home schooling parents and students who have signed their agreement to follow the guidelines and procedures of Westside Co-op, adhere to its statement of faith, pay all necessary fees, and assume all liability for themselves and their families while on church grounds. Should there be a waiting list for membership, consideration will be given first to Westside Baptist Church members before all others. Board of Directors and Officers The Board of Westside Co-op will be comprised of Home schooling parents who are members of Westside Baptist Church and will include a Director, an Administrative Secretary, an Administrative Treasurer, a Building Supervisor, and a Deacon currently serving on the Deacon Board of Westside Baptist Church appointed by the Pastor or Deacon Board. Meetings The Westside Co-op Board will meet twice annually and at any other time deemed necessary to insure the responsible and timely conduct of business. Not for Profit Westside Co-op does not accept fees for salaries, wages, or income of any kind. Any monies collected are simple reimbursement to individuals for personal expenditures for specified materials. All members are considered volunteers and not staff. All volunteers render their services for the benefit of all other members in Westside Co-op.
