This presentation is designed to provide you with information about strategies that have worked and those that have not been productive. At the conclusion of this presentation, you should have the information to create a successful weekend college program. #4 The Executive Class: Leadership Development through Community Partners Stevie Blakely, Coordinator, Tarrant County Trinity River Campus; with Tara Lawrence, Coordinator of Academic Support Services, Tarrant County Trinity River Campus The Executive Class program is a leadership learning community with an entrepreneurial focus. This co-curricular program was designed to assist students interested in business and corporate America. Partnerships have been created both on campus and in the community, allowing for shared resources and expanded networking connections for the student participants. #5 Leading in the Middle: Challenges of Outcomes Assessment Deva Arumugam, QEP Director, El Centro ; with Teresa Isbell, Dean of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, El Centro Many institutions rely on institutional research and assessment offices to lead faculty groups on outcomes assessment. In Spring 2015, El Centro successfully led an interdisciplinary outcomes assessment scale up across the curriculum. This presentation will outline the challenges the assessment team faced and what was done to overcome them. Institutions are looking at developing CBE programs but are unsure of where to begin. Dr. Cindy Briggs helped establish the first CBE program at Collin. She will share tips and advice on bringing this change to your institution. #7 Navigating the Partnership and Funding Maze Debbie Sharp, Vice President of Advancement & External Relations, North Central Texas ; with Emily Klement, Associate Vice President of Academic & External Partnership, North Central Texas ; and Donna Uptergrove, Senior Director of Grants, North Central Texas Building partnerships is critical to expanding educational programs and services to meet workforce needs and secure external funds. This session will provide takeaway tools and techniques for building strong partnerships and strategies for securing funding for these initiatives. #8 Leading From Within: The English Corner Created More Than Tutoring Justine White, English Corner Coordinator, Richland ; with Mary Wood, English Faculty, Richland ; and Toni Whalen, Adjunct English Instructor, Richland After a brief introduction of the history of the English Corner, three surprising byproducts from tutoring will be discussed: calibration, professional development, and collaboration. Each of these aspects were unplanned and grew organically as the English Corner grew. #9 Reimagining the Community with TEDx Deandria Reed-Shaw, Professor, Mountain View TEDx is a dynamic intellectual movement that is gaining momentum around the world. TEDx has greatly influenced the intellectual climate in the public and private sectors. Concepts of collective impact and dual capacity building related to AVATAR (Academic Vertical Alignment and Renewal) among K-12, higher education, and the workforce partners will be applied and demonstrated in a case study format. The project seeks to enhance Fine Arts visibility and augment program marketing initiatives. Join us as we explore the collaborative process involved with implementation. #12 Leveraging Community Partners & Industry to Build STEM-Related Career Pathways CLARA Project Jennifer Hawkins, Director of Corporate Solutions & Economic Development, Tarrant County District; with Fred Schmidt, Manager of Community & Industry Education Program Development, Tarrant County District Presenters will introduce the model used by Tarrant County to respond to workforce development needs in STEM-related careers using public/private partnerships and contextualized learning methods. The outcome is an alignment of workforce and college readiness created by key stakeholders addressing and strengthening area career skill needs while building pathways for ongoing educational opportunities.
