1 A Report rd IEEE International Advance Computing Conference (IACC-2013) The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC), Ghaziabad, India successfully conducted rd IEEE International Advance Computing Conference (IACC-2013), at AKGEC, Ghaziabad, India on February 22-23, The conference was sponsored by IEEE Computer Society, India Council and IEEE Student Branch, AKGEC, Ghaziabad. These organizations extended their full support to make this International event highly successful. Prof Stephen John Turner, NTU, Singapore was the Honorable Chief Guest and Dr B K Murthy, Executive Director, CDAC Noida was the Guest of Honor. The inaugural function was presided over by Shri Ashok Pal, Chairman (BoG), AKGEC, Ghaziabad. Dr R K Agarwal, Director, AKGEC, Ghaziabad was patron of the conference. The General Chair of the conference was Prof B M Kalra, HoD (CSE), AKGEC, Ghaziabad. Dr Deepak Garg, Chair, IEEE Computer Society, India Council was the General Co-Chair and Technical Chair for the conference. Program Chair of the conference was Dr Rajesh Prasad. Dignitaries on the Dias The conference successfully achieved its objective of providing a common forum to academicians, researchers, computer professionals and students to discuss the current state of technology and future course in the field of Advance Computing.

6 The conference received an overwhelming response from academicians and researchers from almost all renowned Institutions of India and abroad. A total of 1388 research papers were received in the conference. After critical review by International and National reviewers, only 28% of the papers i.e., 389 papers were accepted. The conference received papers from 20 countries including India, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Denmark, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Turkey and USA. In total, 60 papers were received from foreign countries, out of which 36 papers were finally accepted. The conference has also received technical papers from several reputed Indian R&D organizations and Software Industries such as: DRDO, ISRO, TCS, CDAC and many more. A total of 295 researchers registered and presented their papers during the conference. Prof. Stephen John Turner delivered a keynote address on Recent Advances in Parallel and Distributed Discrete Event Simulation. He focused on the research in parallel discrete event simulation which reduces the execution time of large-scale simulation applications while ensuring that the same results are obtained as for a sequential execution.

7 Keynote Speaker-I, Prof. Stephen John Turner, NTU, Singapore Dr. Rob Reilly spoke on What is: Pedagogy, Education, Intelligence, Knowledge, Learning, Teaching. He focused on the understanding on how the various concepts (e.g., information, intelligence, learning, wisdom) fit into a model for effectively delivering content from a model-based knowledge domain. 8 A tutorial on Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (Privacy and Security) was conducted by Prof. Bharat Bhargava, Purdue University, USA on the opening day in the afternoon session. Prof. Karmeshu, spoke on Generating Power law behaviour in Broadband Communication Networks. He highlighted on the fact that the traffic characteristics in broadband networks exhibit power law behavior and are modeled by self-similar process.

9 Invited Speaker-I: Prof. Karmeshu, JNU, Delhi Prof. K K Biswas, IIT Delhi, spoke on Automated Human Activity Recognition from video clips. He focused on the human action recognition for automatic understanding of video clips. 10 Prof. Sandeep Sen, IIT, Delhi, spoke on: A short tour of Randomized techniques in Algorithm Design. He focused on the randomization as a very powerful technique for designing efficient algorithms and its contributions to theoretical computer science. Invited Speaker-III: Prof. Sandeep Sen, IIT, Delhi Invited talk on Biometrics & Its Threats was delivered by Prof. Suneeta Agarwal, MNNIT, Allahabad. 11 Prof. Satish Chand concentrated his talk on the Advance Computing. He highlighted the role of Advance Computing in the education and research. Invited Speaker-V: Prof. Satish Chand, NSIT, Delhi All invited talks and the Tutorial were planned in such a manner that they did not overlap with the technical sessions, thereby enabling all the participants to attend them and get benefitted. The conference papers were presented in 6 Technical Sessions, each having 7 tracks running parallel in 7 different locations. Overall, 42 different sessions were planned for the presentation of all the 295 registered papers. The Technical sessions were chaired by eminent academicians from IITs, NITs, DTU, JNU, GGSIPU, NSIT, GBU and other reputed organizations. Proceedings of the conference were provided to all the participants in CD format and the same will be published online in IEEE Xplore Digital Library. The evening of inaugural day was celebrated with an electrifying cultural program by students of AKGEC followed by Conference Dinner. The informal evening also provided an opportunity for networking, cross-fertilization of ideas and establishing new collaborations between the participants.
