1 VICEPRESIDENZA DI BOLOGNA ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019 CALL FOR APPLICATION INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM GLOBAL CULTURES GLOC Second cycle degree Master in History and Oriental Studies (code 8845) Class of second cycle degree LM-84 The second cycle degree / Master programme in History and Oriental Studies is a 2-year (120 ECTS credits) free access degree programme with assessment of personal competencies and skills. It offers three curricula: History (in Italian), Oriental Studies(in Italian) and Global Cultures (in English). The International Curriculum in Global Cultures is taught entirely in English and offers specific courses and services of welcoming and support to students enrolled. Non-EU applicants shall also comply with terms and procedures to enrol in Italian universities by contacting Italian embassies/consulates in the country of origin. 2 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND ASSESSMENT INTAKES Global Cultures is a master s degree taught entirely in English. Students are required to possess a minimum standard of B2 or equivalent. Selections will be made on the basis of an applicant s academic record, application and interview. Prospective students are expected to be familiar with instruments, languages, and modes of research in the humanities. They must also possess a critical view and insight into the past, and to be aware of the dynamic nature of historiography and academic discourse under the larger frameworks of time and culture. Students familiar with comparative methods, spatial, chronological and thematic approaches toward historiographical research are encouraged to apply. Students must also have the ability to communicate orally and have strong English writing skills. a) To be eligible for admission, applicants must: 1) hold a first cycle/bachelor degree according to the Italian National Qualification Framework or an equivalent degree achieved in another educational system. Evaluation will be based both on: ü dossier o previous studies (grades and courses attended); o detailed CV; o statement of purpose (explaining interest in the program and describing personal and professional goals max 500 words); o certificate of English language proficiency (at least B2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) if held. ü Interview will be held in English and will assess competences and skills, including language proficiency. It will last minutes and, if necessary, will be conducted via Skype. 2/5

4 How to register for any one of the intakes: ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE 1. Connect to and create your personal User ID and Password by Registrati / Register (if you already have an account, skip to step 4). Switch to the English language, if needed. 2. Register by filling out the form (if you are a student resident abroad and you do not already have an Italian Tax ID (codice fiscale), you can click on Registrazione Studenti Internazionali / International students registration and follow the instructions to create your personal User ID and Password). 3. After your first access, you will be asked to change your password. Please, remember your ID and Password, as they will always be required to access your personal profile. 4.
