1 204 FACT SHEET FIELD OF STUDY: BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 6052 Level 4 40 DESCRIPTION The IBS Administration programme at NQF Level 4 has been designed for learners who want to be employed in business administration in the fields of governance and administration and/or Human Resources and/or in finance in private and/or public practice. The wide range of skills included in this qualification gives the learner a holistic understanding of the business environment in which governance and administration staff work, as well as a variety of clerical skills. It provides the industry and its clients with competent professionals. This qualification is recorded against the Professional Qualification: Business Administration (PQMA), SAQA ID No CAREER FIELDS The learners who complete the qualification could pursue a career as a/an: Receptionist Secretary Office/Admin Assistant Office Administrator Financial/Banking Administrator Public Relations Officer Marketing Administrator ARTICULATION OPTIONS WITHIN THIS FIELD:. Read and view for understanding and to evaluate critically and respond to a wide range of texts. Write and present for a wide range of purposes and audiences using conventions and formats appropriate to a business context. Use language structures and conventions appropriately and effectively. Fundamentals of Governance Demonstrate an understanding of the sources and history of South African Law. Demonstrate an understanding of the various aspects of common law. Demonstrate an understanding of the law of partnership. Demonstrate an understanding of Insolvency Law. Demonstrate an understanding of labour legislation in South Africa. 2 204 FACT SHEET FIELD OF STUDY: BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 6052 Level 4 40 Fundamentals of Mathematics Use knowledge of numbers and their relationships to investigate a range of different contexts which include financial aspects of personal, business and national issues. Recognise, interpret, describe and represent various functional relationships to solve problems in real and simulated contexts. Collect, summarise, display and analyse data and apply knowledge of statistics and probability to communicate, justify, predict and critically interrogate findings and draw conclusions. Measure using appropriate instruments, to estimate and calculate physical quantities, and to interpret, describe and represent properties of and relationships between 2-dimensional shapes and 3-dimensional objects in a variety of orientations and positions. Fundamentals of Accounting Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and the application of financial information according to generally accepted accounting practice and concepts. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of managerial accounting as well as the application thereof. Demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of the use of different financial and managerial control tools and strategies to manage resources in a responsible manner. Fundamentals of Office Administration and Information Describe the management functions in running a successful business. Demonstrate an understanding of the administrative systems, policies and procedures required in an organisation. Receive, distribute and dispatch mail in accordance with defined organisational procedures. Demonstrate an understanding of reception duties as a support service in an organisation. Assess, establish, and maintain data management systems to ensure organised electronic and paper. records for the workplace. Manage the use of time and other resources to attain personal and/or project-related goals. Fundamentals There is no additional fundamental component in this programme, fundamentals are part of the learning units/modules as listed above. Workplace Learning This programme does not include a Workplace Learning component. TYPE OF PROGRAMME Full Time Agent Programme** This is an accredited programme with the IBS (Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa) DURATION year, full-time study based on the NQF notional hours. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, comprehension and application of the English language at NQF 3/Grade or equivalent, and Knowledge, comprehension and application of Mathematical Literacy at NQF 3/Grade or equivalent; OR Completion of the National Certificate: Business Administration SAQA 6050 at NQF level 3. Admission may be subject to an interview with an academic staff member FUNDAMENTALS CREDIT ACCUMULATION TRANSFER (CAT) CAT does not apply to this qualification. LEARNER MATERIAL All text books are excluded from the tuition fees. A list of textbooks will be provided by your nearest Damelin campus academic department. 3 204 FACT SHEET FIELD OF STUDY: BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 6052 Level 4 40 ADDITIONAL COSTS The Annual Registration Fee and Examination fees (per module excluding study material and tuition fees) are payable before the closing dates as indicated in the Summary of Important IBS Dates below. Note: Registration fees are payable to the Damelin campus who will in turn pay it over to IBS on the learner s behalf. Examination fees are payable directly to the IBS by the learner and may not be paid via Damelin. (Refer to the Student Handbook for further details) IBS REGISTRATION PROCEDURES Registration as a student and enrolment for the examinations are two separate processes.. Annual/First Registrations All learners must pay the registration fee to Damelin by the 5 th February for the st semester AND by the 5 th July for the 2 nd semester. The registration fee must be accompanied by the IBS manual registration form together with the following documents: Certified copy of the ID document, Certified copy of the school certificate, or Other appropriate documents e.g. valid passport, valid study permit, SAQA verification certificate of foreign results, etc. If this has not been done, the learner WILL NOT be registered with the IBS and as a result will not be able to enroll for the examinations. ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. 2. Re-registrations Re-registrations do not require the submission of the documentation required for first time students. Once the student is registered on the database, the Institute will send reminders to the students regarding registration fees, and the student will thereafter be responsible for paying such fees directly to the Institute. Re-registration fees may not be paid to tuition providers (Damelin). For repeat registrations, online registration can be done proof of payment (via direct deposit or Internet transfer into the Institute bank account) must accompany the registration. If the registration fee is not paid before the cut-off date penalty fees will be incurred. 3. Enrolment for the Examinations Once the registration has been accepted, students can enrol for the examinations. Students will be individually responsible for enrolling for the examinations and paying their exam fee by the 3 st March for st semester AND 3 st August for the 2 nd semester. Examination enrolments made in bulk (for more than person) will not be accepted. This must be done by the student him/herself. The following documents have to be submitted upon enrolment: Completed examination enrolment form or online enrolment Proof of payment (direct deposit or Internet transfer into the Institute bank account). Please note for security reasons, the Institute does not accept cash payments at the office. Note: Should any of the above documents not be submitted before the closing dates stated above, enrolment is regarded as being incomplete for the examination session and students will be held liable for any outstanding fees. EXAMINATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. Note: proof of payment alone does not constitute enrolment. If the examination fees are not paid before the cut-off date, penalty fees will be incurred. Re-enrolment No provision is made for supplementary sittings. If a candidate fails the examination, s/he can enrol again for that subject in the next examination sitting. 4 204 FACT SHEET FIELD OF STUDY: BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION 6052 Level 4 40 DE-REGISTRATION: CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE Students who do not meet the deadlines will automatically be deregistered and under NO circumstances will they be permitted to write the examinations. Annual registration fees will be forfeited and those who have not paid but have registered will be liable for these fees. A deregistration fee of 0% will be charged if a student has enrolled but not paid the relevant fees. SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT IBS DATES Closing Dates (tbc) May exams October exams Annual registration 28 February 3 July Enrolment for examinations 3 March 3 August Applications for credit exemptions (and deposits) 3 March 3 August ASSESSMENT Formative assessments will assess all learning outcomes and adhere to all assessment criteria of the learning programme. An external summative assessment will be conducted in May and/or in October each year to determine whether the specific outcomes for each module have been achieved. Fundamentals of Accounting Fundamentals of Governance Fundamentals of Office Administration and Information Test & 2 2 Summative Assessments Exam Theory Practical N/A CERTIFICATION Upon successful completion of the programme, IBS will issue learners with a Results Letter outlining the modules covered and a Administration, SAQA ID 6052 (Credits 20) with a FASSET endorsement will be awarded. **Whenever Damelin offers training towards a programme that will be awarded by another provider or institute, it is called an Agent Programme. In the case of an Agent Programme, Damelin registers the learners, provides tuition and conducts internal assessments.
