3 About the Competition Established in 2009 Based on a hypothetical case in the International Court of Justice of public international law relating to outer space and related activities In 2016, there are Regional Rounds held in: the Asia Pacific (Sydney, Australia) Europe (London, United Kingdom) Latin America (Bogota, Colombia) North America (New York, United States) Teams compete in a round-robin format of several rounds before advancing through the Regional Finals

4 About the Competition Domestic funding rounds are held in some countries before the Regional Rounds For every ten (10) teams that participate in the Regional Rounds, one (1) team will advance to the International Finals in that year For example, if there are 13 teams in Europe, both of the Regional Finalists advance to the International Finals Each of the regions are guaranteed at least 1 team in the International Finals The 2016 International Finals will be held in June 2016, Montréal, Canada

7 Registration Costs Registration fees for universities participating in the Competition for the first time: Asia Pacific: AUD Europe: EUR North America and Latin America: USD Registration fees for all other universities: Asia Pacific: AUD Europe: EUR North America: USD Latin America: USD Teams must bear their own costs of preparation, travel, accommodation, materials, and meals

8 What You Need Team of 2-4 eligible students interested in international law and mooting Costs of participation are reasonable compared to other mooting competitions Substantial materials available online and in subscription-based resources Specific knowledge and studies in space law and international law may be useful but certainly not a prerequisite to participating or winning

9 What You Need to Do Visit the website Put a team together Get approval from the university to participate Complete the Registration Form, including the payment of registration fees and send it in before the deadline Familiarise yourselves with the Competition Rules Write memorials and prepare submissions Book and arrange your travel Have fun!
