The home university has to send the official nomination letter to our office by to:. The nomination letter has to include the students names, passport numbers, grade information (sophomore, junior, 1 st year grad student), major, gender, and their duration of study (one semester or two semesters). Step 2: Applicant filling the online application. Students must finish the online application first and then print out the completed application form. The online application can be found at: Please use IE explorer to finish the application. The students have to submit the following supportive documents in hard copy: 1. the completed Application Form for studying at RUC; 2. The official certificate of enrollment 3. A statement of Purpose in Chinese or English 4. The signed Guarantee Statement 5. The official transcripts (English version) 6. One photocopy of the passport 7. Two ID pictures Please send all the above 7 documents to our office by November 15 for the spring semester and May 15 for the fall semester. International Students Office will review the applications after the deadline and the exchange admission decision will be sent out to Renmin Law School. Then Renmin Law School will forward the admission package to the applicant. The package will include the Admission Letter, JW form (for visa application), and other documents.

4 Credits required for the exchange students The amount of credits that shall be taken by the exchange students is decided by the home institution. Academic Calendar Fall Semester 2013: September 8 to January 19 Exam & Official Transcript Registration E-card Spring Semester 2014: February 17 to June 29 Generally 8th and 15th week of the semester are for the midterm and the final examination respectively. The International Students Office will issue the official transcript and send to t home institution when the semester ends 1. International students must formally register at the time specified in the Admission Notice. Those who are unable to register on time must ask for permission. Those who fail to register without the prior consent will be considered as voluntarily giving up their enrollment. 2. Registration venue: International Students Office (1st floor, International Culture Exchange Center). 3. Registration time: 08:00 am-17:00 pm Documents required for Registration 1. Admission Notice; 2. Visa Application for Study in China (JW202/JW201) (Except for those holding F visa or residence permit); 3. 5 pieces of passport-size photos; 4. The originals of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, blood test reports of AIDS and Syphilis, and electrocardiogram (Except for those holding F visa or residence permit); The e-card is a very important identification of the students. Students must have the e-card in order to eat in the canteen (most canteens don t take cash), use the library and the internet. In order to activate the card s financial function, the user has to connect it with a local bank card The procedure to get the e-card: 1 Apply a debit card at a local Bank of China 2 Take the debit card to the E-Card Center, take picture and the apply the e-card 3 Activate the card on the Terminal and transfer the money from the debit card to the e- card. Orientation Program In order to expedite the process, the International Students Office (ISO) will apply the debit card for the students. After officially register at the ISO, the student will get his/her own debit card. The ISO will then take the students to the E-Card Center to get the e-card accordingly. There is an orientation session for international exchange students during the first week of each semester. The Orientation Program is highly recommended to attend, but not

5 compulsory. 6 washing machine Students Activities Health Insurance requirements Visa information Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is available around the campus. Renmin University of China does not provide an assistance to find off-campus housing and it is students own responsibility to find accommodation outside campus. Renmin University of China offers varieties of activities, such as International Culture Festival, The travel of Harbin, trip to the Great Wall and so on. Please see for the details. Every student must have appropriate insurance throughout the duration of study. The insurance must at least cover accidental injuries and hospitalization. The international students office recommends students take the Comprehensive Insurance for Foreigners in China. Students not wishing to take the Comprehensive Insurance for Foreigners must present an equivalent insurance certificate on arrival. Please note that it must be written either in English or Chinese language. Students without insurance must take the Comprehensive Insurance for Foreigners. The insurance fee is RMB600 for one year and RMB300 for half a year. Students who are not medically insured are not allowed to register. 1. Students studying for more than one year are required to obtain a X visa and must apply for a residence permit within 30 days of arrival. For the application of a residence permit, please bring the originals of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner, blood test reports of AIDS and Syphilis, and electrocardiogram. Please note that the health examination records are valid for six months and if the records are out of date, reexamination will be required. 2. Students studying for half a year or less are required to obtain an F visa and F visa holders are not required to apply for residence permit. 3. F visa and residence permit holders don t need to bring the JW202/JW201 or Physical Examination Record for Foreigner to register. 4. Students live off campus must register in the local police station within 24 days of arrival and the accommodation registration notice is required for visa change.
