3 Introduction In , the College of Coastal Georgia launched its second destination survey of CCGA graduates. Prior to , information on post graduation plans was mostly anecdotal. The First Destination Survey was a joint effort between the Offices of Career Services and Institutional Effectiveness. The 2016 survey was distributed to 271 graduating seniors via an embedded survey link in an invitation. Of these students, 226 completed the survey for an overall response rate of 83.4%. Importance of First Destination Survey This is the only centralized initiative focused on reporting the actual post graduation plans of all CCGA undergraduates, regardless of academic discipline. The survey consists of baccalaureate level graduates from Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Health Informatics, Nursing, Public Management, Psychology, and Teacher Education. Also represented are Career Associate level graduates in Clinical Laboratory Technology, Hospitality, Nursing, and Radiologic Science. Survey results are invaluable to current students, assisting them indentifying what s next opportunities after graduation, and to the Office of Career Services planning meeting post graduation student needs. In addition, the First Destination Survey addresses data requirements set forth by the Higher Education Opportunities Act (HEOA) and it offers post graduation outcomes information to a wide variety of interested constituents, including School Deans, faculty, prospective students and parents, and employers. Supporting the CCGA Mission First Destination Survey supports the College s institutional mission given its particular focus on student preparation for the future. More specifically, Students are prepared for meaningful careers, advanced study, lifelong learning, and participation in a global and technological society. Importance of Privacy It is the policy of the Office of Career Services Office to maintain student privacy. Therefore, there were not any attached individual identifiers to statistical summary reports generated as a result of the information students provided in the First Destination Survey. 4 Methodology 2016 marks the second year for First Des na on Survey efforts at the College of Coastal Georgia. Prior to 2015, most data was anecdotal and loosely organized. Career Services, in coopera on with the Office of Ins tu onal Effec veness collected survey data from 226 of 271 students gradua ng with either Bachelor or Career Associate degree, resul ng in a response rate of 83.4% among students receiving these degrees. Data was collected in several ways. First, the First Des na on Survey was sent out via in mid Spring Semester 2016 using the Registrar s mailing list of students who applied for gradua on. As gradua ng students are keenly focused on s from the Registrar, it was correctly assumed that students would be more likely to answer the survey as they complete gradua on requirement tasks for the registrar. Secondly, Career Services contacted Deans and Department heads in all CCGA programs via . This shared preliminary raw data with each department and provided a link for faculty and staff to provide missing or addi onal data to provide a more complete picture for their respec ve areas. 17 updates to survey responses were collected in this manner. In August 2016, Career Services sent a follow up survey to previous non responders. Finally, in October 2016, Career Services through the use of the CCGA Call Center was able to receive updates from 22 students who had either not responded or indicated the were seeking employment. Overall, first des na on survey data was collected for 83.4% (226/271) total graduates. 14 FIRST DESTINATION SURVEY RESULTS Spring 2016 To gauge the success of our programs, CCGA administers the First Des na on Survey to all gradua ng students. For the Spring of 2016 class, outcome data was obtained from 87.5% of the 271 graduates.
