12 GRADUATION DAY INFORMATION June 7th 12:00 noon Colonial Life Arena No tickets are issued and there is no limit on the number of guests you may invite Students must be at the Colonial Life Arena BY 11 AM dressed in their cap, tassel, gown, and stole READY TO GO
13 GRADUATION SUPPLIES River Bluff High School uses Rhodes Graduation/Jostens for our graduation supplies. They provide cap and gowns, invitations, note cards, t-shirts, etc. Students only need a cap, gown, stole, tassel, and diploma cover Graduation supply meeting will be Sept 20th at 11:15 in the PAC Graduation supply order day is Sept 26th from 10am-3pm in the Rotunda Graduation supply distribution will be March 28th, 10-3 on Main Street (to receive supplies they must be paid for in full)

17 UNDERSTANDING YOUR TRANSCRIPT Confirm'your'info'is'correct' Sign one copy of your transcript and hand it to a counselor as you exit the PAC tonight. One copy is for you to keep to use while completing college applications. Courses you re taking this year GPA Based on 4.0 weighted South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy (SC UGP GPA). Unweighted 4.0 GPA (only reported when specifically asked for) All courses you ve taken for high school credit Current class rank
18 APPLYING FOR A DISTRICT MAJOR High School major does not have to match your college major. Applications for major completion is due May 1st to be recognized at graduation. Major templates are in the district course guide online.

21 SENDING TRANSCRIPTS All transcripts are sent electronically; we do not mail any hardcopy transcripts. Registration codes were ed to students at their Lexington1 . Follow the steps to complete your account. Select the destination (college) you want RBHS to send your transcript to. View your order details then click save & continue. You should NOT be charged a fee. You may log in later and track your order. If you didn t receive a Parchment registration code via you have already set up your Parchment account. If you know you haven t set up your account, let your counselor know.
22 COLLEGE APPLICATION DAY October 18th in the Learning Commons Complete any college applications you haven t submitted by then with the help of your counselors and college admissions representatives. Many colleges will waive application fees on our College Application Day if you submit your application then - ask your college if they re one.
23 RECENT CHANGES TO FAFSA!!!! Available Oct 1st rather than Jan 1st Do college application and FAFSA in same month Use 2017 income & tax information No more guessing or quick filing PIN has been replaced with FSA ID Parent & student must have different FSA ID Parent and student MUST use different addresses PLAN TO ATTEND OUR FAFSA COMPLETION NIGHT ON OCTOBER 30TH!
24 TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS Merit-Based Based on academic, artistic, athletic or other abilities, and often factor in an applicant's extracurricular activities and community service record Need-Based Financial status, typically identified by FAFSA Student-Specific Applicants must initially qualify based upon gender, race, religion, family and medical history, or many other student-specific factors Career-Specific Based on your intended field of study College-Specific Academic and personal achievement offered by the school you plan to attend

26 Academic Criteria: Must meet ALL criteria Score 1200 SAT* (Critical Reading & Math) or 27 ACT composite Earn a 3.5 minimum GPA at the end of the Junior year** Rank in the top 6% of the sophomore, junior or graduating senior class OR Alternate Criteria (without regard to rank): Score 1400 on SAT* (Critical Reading & Math) or 32 ACT Earn a 4.0 GPA at the end of the Junior year** Award Amount: $6,700 Freshman year (sophomores, juniors & seniors may earn up to $7,500/yr) *Starting with class of 2018 CHE will no longer accept scores from old SAT. **GPA requirement at the end of the Senior year for Late Awards deadline. Late Award is awarded late usually after the bill is due so arrangements may need to be made. Eligible applicants will be notified when information is available. 27 4-Year College Academic Criteria: Must meet 2 of the 3 criteria - Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 upon graduation Rank in the top 30% of the graduating class* Score at least 1100 on the SAT (CR & M only) or 24 on the ACT 2-Year College Academic Criteria: Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 upon graduation Award Amount: $5,000 or up to the cost of tuition *Students graduating Early (Dec) or in Summer School do not get ranked back with their class so can only qualify with the test score and GPA criteria for 4-year institution eligibility NO APPLICATION required. 28 HOPE Scholarship 4-year College One-year merit-based for 1 st time entering freshmen Only available at four-year schools 3.0 Final GPA (but not eligible to receive LIFE) NO APPLICATION required. 29 SC NEEDS-BASED GRANT Provides additional financial assistance to South Carolina s neediest students attending eligible SC public institutions. Must complete the FAFSA each academic year Must be enrolled a minimum of six credit hours (if part-time) or twelve credit hours (if fulltime) for the term Award Amount: Up to $2,500/year for full-time students and up to $1,250/year for part-time May receive funds up to eight full-time equivalent terms of funding Foster care youth may receive the maximum award in addition to Need-based Grant funds specifically for foster care youth. 30 SC TUITION GRANTS PROGRAM SC Tuition Grants Program provides need-based grant assistance to eligible South Carolina students attending eligible independent non-profit SC colleges. The application used to determine eligibility is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Must complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after October1st, but before June 30th. Award: Varies (depending on a combination of family resources, the cost of attendance of the independent college selected, and the final funding of the Tuition Grants Program by the State Legislature. 31 COLLEGE & CAREER TESTING Military and Career Interest: Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military Even if not interested in a military career, ASVAB is an excellent career interest inventory We will be giving the ASVAB at RBHS on October 25th; see from Mrs Bennett to register. 2-Year Technical College : Accuplacer Placement Test Contact your college in the spring to schedule a testing date 4-Year College/University: Admissions Tests SAT Must register online at ACT Must register online at Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to your college. Fee waivers for SAT and/or ACT may be available for students receiving free or reduced price lunch who meet academic criteria. You must provide a verification letter from Lexington One Food Services to verify you qualify.

35 NEXT STEPS Sign one copy of your transcript and leave it with a school counselor as you exit. Make a note of any changes we need to check. IGP appointments will be ed to students starting next week. CHECK YOUR AND ACCEPT YOUR IGP TIME. Create your Parchment account using the registration link in the you received and order transcripts to all the schools you plan to apply. Register to take the SAT and/or ACT if you aren t happy with your scores. Complete your district major application before May 1st Most importantly, FINISH STRONG!!! This year counts too!
