3 Department of Nanoscience & Technology is one of the recently started Departments in the University of Calicut. The department is funded by UGC under XI th plan. The department has initiated an M.Tech program in Nanoscience & Technology. This program is aimed at providing the basic science of various concepts of nanoscale materials, their novel properties, applications and future perspectives. A number of courses with different modules have been designed to impart knowledge on physics, chemistry, biotechnology, modeling and simulation, and various technological aspects of nanomaterials. The department also offers PhD program in the areas of Nanoscience & Technology. PROGRAMMES OF STUDY M.Tech - Nanoscience & Technology (2 Year - 4 Semester) No. of Seats : 10 PhD - Nanoscience & Technology M.Tech Nanoscience & Technology Course: Eligibility for admission: M. Sc. in Nanoscience /Physics / Applied Physics / Materials Science/ Electronics / Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry /Biosciences with at least Physics /or Chemistry/or Mathematics one of the subsidiaries at the under graduate level. BE / B.Tech in Nanoscience and Technology/ Electronics /Electrical /Mechanical /Engineering Physics / Metallurgy and Material Engg. /Biotechnology /Chemical Engg. or Technology. A Minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is essential for the eligibility for admission to this course. Selection: Admission to this course will be done based on the marks secured in the entrance examination conducted by the University among the eligible candidates. 100 Objective type questions with multiple choice answers will be given during the examination. Answers are to be marked on the OMR sheets distributed during the examinations. Additional weightage will be given to candidates with valid GATE score.
