2 Who We Are &What We Do: 501(c)(3) non-profit organization Serve as Baltimore City s official arts council, events agency and film office Provide funding and support to artists, arts programs and organizations across the city Manage a variety of cultural programs and grants Creative Baltimore Fund Grants, Baltimore Mural Program, Public Art, Free Fall Baltimore, Transformative Art Prize, MECU Neighborhood Grant Program, Bright StArts Workshops For Children and more Produce large-scale and special events including Light City, Baltimore Farmers Market & Bazaar, July 4 th Fireworks, New Year s Eve Fireworks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade Oversees historic attractions and sites including the Top of the World Observation Level, School 33 Art Center, The Cloisters, and the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower

3 Festivals Overview Artscape: - America s largest FREE arts festival - Friday, July 20 through Sunday, July 22 - Hours of Operation: 11am-9pm on Friday and Saturday, 11am-7pm on Sunday - Artscape After Hours: 9-11pm on Friday and Saturday, Charles Street only - 37 year Baltimore tradition - $28.5 million economic impact on Baltimore vendors selling their artwork - Artwork Projects over $100K in new commissions for Baltimore artists Baltimore artists, performers and musicians hired to participate - 65 local food vendors and local beer - 350,000 attendees over three days Baltimore Book Festival: - mid-atlantic s premiere literary arts festival - Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30 - Hours of Operation: 11am 7pm, 11am 6pm Sunday - 23 year Baltimore tradition - $8.4 million in economic impact on Baltimore -100,000 + attendees over three days -100 Literary Exhibitors Tablers over the weekend bands and performers on the Music Stage -10+ stages of Literary programming - Over 450 author appearances

Contact Deadline to Submit Application: Wednesday, February 28 (Artscape.org) Artwork Projects interactive artwork projects, showcasing the visual and performing arts Projects should actively engage the audience and provide a unique and memorable experience for festival-goers Projects should be compelling through design, color and scale, and interactive wherever possible For performance-based artwork projects, a strong visual component is required All artwork projects and performances are required to be free, open to the public, fully accessible, and operational for the entire festival weekend (including inclement weather, unless a shelter-in-place is put into effect) Handout Call for Proposals

Contact Charles Street Creative Projects interactive artwork projects specifically designed for the block of Charles Street; treated as an experiment in "culturally complete streets Artists/residents invited to collaborate within the realms of tactical urbanism and creative placemaking to create a walkable creative corridor adorned with diverse artwork, public furniture, parklets and play sculpture and more Complete Streets Transportation policy and design requiring streets to be planned, designed and maintained; providing access for all Opportunity to use the pedestrian nature of Artscape to imagine what creative complete streets look like in their own community Tactical Urbanism Term describing D.I.Y. and low-cost temporary changes, intended to improve neighborhoods and gathering places Opportunity to use Artscape as a place to experiment with tactical urbanism projects that can be relocated or recreated in neighborhoods across Baltimore Creative Placemaking Process and philosophy describing multi-faceted approaches to planning, design, and public space organizing Opportunity to improve public space and use Artscape as a laboratory and expo to demonstrate new projects to try new ideas within the unique environment of the festival

11 Artscape Artwork Projects Deadline to Submit Application: Wednesday, February 28 (Artscape.org) What We Do: Provide funding to the artists; funding ranging from approximately $5,000 to $25,000 based on impact level of work ($4,000 to $10,000 for Charles Street projects) Assigns a festival-appointed project coordinator to serve as your festival-liaison and on-site contact Provide volunteers (requested in advance; based on availability) Provides generators, fuel and power distribution Provides a safe and secure festival and atmosphere Marketing and promotional opportunities What You Do: Create, install and de-install the artwork projects Ensure artwork projects are fully operational for entire festival weekend Have existing insurance, with BOPA and the City of Baltimore listed as insured

Contact Deadline to Submit Application: Wednesday, February 28 (Artscape.org) Artist-Run Art Fair pop-up art fair in partnership with Open Space Baltimore, featuring artist-run galleries and exhibition spaces Food Vendors Artscape s local food vendors program is proud to showcase 100 percent of vendors hailing from the Maryland region Gamescape featuring videogame developers and designers, demonstrations and panels Kidscape family friendly entertainment for school-aged children, featuring arts and crafts, demonstrations, art and youth organizations, and performances LOL@Artscpae pop-up comedy club during Artscape After Hours (Friday and Saturday nights) Non-Profit and Arts/Cultural Organizations exhibit spaces for non-profit and arts/cultural organizations at the festival are intended to highlight those that support the visual or performing arts in Baltimore and the surrounding region; required to meet at least one of the following criteria: arts-related regionally based cultural institutions arts-related cultural resources arts-related educational institutions are applicable Performing Arts showcasing creative performances such as dance, theater, street theater, pop-up performances, opera, classical and folk music

19 Baltimore Book Festival Apply DEADLINE to apply is July 13, 2018 Once accepted, you will be notified by August 24 th. Literary Exhibitors present all three days of BBF. One 10x10 tent with table and two chairs. Inclusion on website, and in printed collateral. Tablers present one day of BBF. One 6 table and chair, within a larger tented marketplace. Located outside the Visitor Center. Speaking Engagements/ Presenting Authors Speaking engagements are by invitation only, however, all are welcomed to submit proposals directly to scullen@promotionandarts.org ***due to the volume of submissions, we will NOT be able to respond unless you are selected. All selected authors will be notified by August 24 th.
