2 Jean Monnet worldwide Network countries throughout the world more than 800 universities offering Jean Monnet courses as part of their curricula Over 4,460 projects in the field of European integration studies more than 1,700 professors and ca. 265,000 students every year

3 Objectives Promote excellence in teaching and research in field of EU studies; particular emphasis on European integration process Foster the dialogue between academic world and policy-makers Equip students and young professionals with knowledge of EU subjects and enhance their civic skills Promote innovation in teaching and research (e.g. multi-disciplinary studies, open education, networking with institutions) Improve the quality of professional training on EU subjects Activities 1. Teaching and research activities: Modules, Chairs, Centers of Excellence 2. Support to institutions and associations: Networks & Projects 3. Policy debate with the academic world

4 1. Teaching and research in the field of EU-studies Aims to support: MODULES 40h teaching programme (max grant: 30,000 ) CHAIRS* 90h teaching posts (max grant: 50,000 ) CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE focal points of competence and knowledge (max grant 100,000 ) * And carry out at least one additional activity per academic year (e.g. lecture to other departments, conferences) Main activities: teaching in European integration studies embodied in an official HEI curriculum conduct, monitor and supervise research on EU subjects, also for other educational levels such as teacher training and compulsory education organise and coordinate human and documentary resources related to EU studies enhancing debate and exchange of experience about EU (think-thank function) systematic publication of results of research activities

5 2. Policy debate and exchanges Aims to support: NETWORKS international consortia (of HEIs, Centres of Excellence, departments, etc.) in area of EU studies. Min. 3 partner institutions from 3 different countries. Duration: up to 3 years (max grant: ) PROJECTS support innovation, cross-fertilisation & spread of EU content. Involvement of other partners possible. Duration: months (max grant: ) Main activities: Gather & promote information and results on methodologies (research and teaching) Enhance cooperation between HEIs and other relevant bodies Exchange best practices "Innovation projects" > explore new and different methodologies to make EU subjects more attractive, widen target population (e.g. virtual classrooms) "Cross-fertilisation projects" > promote discussion and reflection on EU issues "Spread content projects" mainly concern information and dissemination activities

Support to Associations Aims to support: ASSOCIATIONS that contribute to study of EU integration process, are interdisciplinary, officially registered and independent; open to all interested professors, teachers and researchers specialising in EU issues; duration 3 years (max grant: ) Main activities: Support statutory activities of associations (e.g. newsletter, website, annual board meeting, promotion etc.) Perform research to advice local, regional, national and European policy makers Disseminate outcomes including to EU institutions & wider public ( enhance active citizenship)
