Consider your extracurricular commitments (athletics, clubs, community service). Determine that you will have enough time for your courses given the amount of time required for your activities. 3. If you are considering taking Honors or Advanced Placement pay attention to the estimated homework requirement and level of difficulty. 4. Talk to you current teachers and counselor if you have questions about which courses are appropriate for you. Create a balanced year-long schedule that is challenging, but not overwhelming, by selecting courses for which you are 10 adequately prepared.

Confidence Develop better study habits, improve your writing skills and sharpen your problem-solving abilities this will give you the confidence to tackle the academic challenges that you can expect in college. Credit Entering college with AP credits gives you time to move into upper-level courses in your field of interest, pursue a double major, or study/travel abroad. Must earn a 3,4,or 5 on AP exam. Depends on the college. College Success Research consistently shows that students who are successful in AP typically experience greater academic success in college than similar students who do not participate in AP.

14 PRINCIPAL S HONOR ROLL REQUIREMENTS G.P.A. of 3.75 or higher (overall weighted G.P.A. over 7 semesters, starting in 9th grade through first semester of 12th grade) Students must take at least 2 Advanced Placement Courses within the 4 years of high school. Citizenship requirement: Students can only have one D or F in seven semesters of high school. Community Service requirement: At least 100 hours of community service.

15 TIPS to be Successful Develop your study skills Practice good time management Identify and utilize efficient study methods that work for you Seek help when needed (attend homework zone, teacher tutoring hours, form study groups, consult with your teacher and counselor) Monitor your grades Communicate with your teachers Regularly check your grades using Jupiter and/or Infinite Campus? Maintain a healthy lifestyle Successful students get adequate sleep, eat nutritious foods, and have a balance between their home, school and social lives Get involved in school activities (clubs, athletics, ASB etc.) Maintain good grades Your grades should be an accurate reflection of your abilities. Reasonably challenge yourself, but be careful not to take on more than you can handle
