Based on the national award-winning, highly successful Modeling program. Monday June 13 th Friday July 1 (weekdays only) and three follow-ups on Saturdays to be determined, all at New Albany High School Participants Receive 4 hours of graduate credit in physics/chemistry Curricular and classroom materials aimed at Ohio standards Lunch each workshop day, to talk shop with other teachers Past Participants Say Very worthwhile. 12 Page 12 The Dialog SOS/AAPT Executive and Buisiness Meeting Minutes Mason High School, Mason, OH - 10 October 2015 Board Members Present: John Rowe (president), Mark Plano Clark (past president), Lenore Horner (president elect), Kathy Harper (Section Rep), Bill Kuhlman (Treasurer), VP for High Schools (Matthew Kennedy), VP for 2-year Colleges (Sandra Doty), Terry Toepker (VP for 4-year colleges) The meeting was called to order by President John Rowe at 2:40pm. 1. Sandy moved and Kevin seconded to approve both sets of minutes from Spring. Motion passed. 2. Thanks to DeeDee Messer and Mason High School for hosting us 3. Treasurer s report from Bill Kuhlman must fill federal 990-N as non-profit with assets less than $25000 similar form is required to be filed with state of OH balance $ in checking, cd $ total as of 9/15/ Section Rep report from Kathy Harper AAPT national meeting July in Cincinnati meetings committee now includes section rep of host section for 2 years prior to meeting ideas are needed outings: observatory, king s island (b) what could get locals to attend meeting (c) picnic? discount for local members? discount for first-time attendees 1-day HS teachers camp need to focus on keeping relevant to 9-12 suggestions to Kathy Harper suggest sessions for HS committee to sponsor 5. Spring SOSAAPT meeting April 9 at University of Dayton with OSAPS Lenore Horner will be SOSAAPT contact person for coordinating organization of the meeting We need a parallel section on Sat. morning and then something to extend beyond into the afternoon for us. theme is nano-photonics; a workshop on energy and session on Jim Sat. am? - ask Gordon we need a big draw Lenore will be contact for Perry (Terry and Kathy H have names, Dave Maloney would come, Jearl Walker) Matthew will see if JW is interested at a meeting next week 6. Elections 7. At the Spring meeting we will elect: Secretary, VP for 4 year colleges, and President elect. We also need a Treasurer in training as per request of Bill Kuhlman. Similarly, we need a judge organizer in training for the State Science Day award as per request of Gordon Aubrecht. Meeting adjourned 15:06
