4 Requirements to Promote to 9 th Grade Successfully complete 12 core credits 3 Language Arts 3 Mathematics 3 Science 3 Social Studies (must include Civics and its EOC for 30% of course grade) 2.0 GPA (cumulative includes all courses taken in 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grades) Career and Educational Planning (included in Civics, U.S. History, and a few others)

10 High School Honor Roll Format Based on cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) or higher Honors with Distinction High Honors Honors 12 th Grade students will receive honors cords to wear during graduation (includes all courses including 12 th grade year)

11 Community Service & Foreign Language Neither Community Service nor Foreign Language graduation requirements. Both are required for some scholarships like 2 of the 3 types of Bright Futures. Foreign Languages are recommended for college-bound students, and 2 consecutive years are required for 4-year university admissions. Community Service Hours Can begin to earn hours the summer between 8 th and 9 th grade. Student Application and Parent Approval Form and Record of Volunteer Hours signed by a supervisor are required. An Agency Form may be required. High School Credit (75 hours for ½ credit maximum 1.0 credit) Bright Futures Scholarships Florida Academic Scholar 100 hours Florida Medallion Scholar 75 hours Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholar 30 hours Graduation Recognitions Silver Cords require 250 hours or more

12 Bright Futures Scholarship Program 3 types of awards Florida Academic Scholars 3.5 weighted GPA (16 core courses) Earned a 29 ACT or 1290 SAT Completed a minimum of 100 Community Service Hours Florida Medallion Scholars 3.0 weighted GPA (16 core courses) Earned a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT Completed a minimum of 75 Community Service Hours Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars 3.0 weighted GPA (excluding electives) 3.5 GPA in a career/technical program of at least 3.0 credits Earned a college-ready score on the ACT, SAT, or PERT test Completed a minimum of 30 Community Service Hour Students may receive only 1 type of award Visit: 16 Core Credits 4.0 English 4.0 Mathematics 3.0 Science 3.0 Social Studies 2.0 Foreign Language (same language)

13 Registration Sheets English, Math, Science, History, Reading, and PE will be scheduled for all 9 th grade students based on current courses, grades, test scores, and teacher recommendations. Teacher signature required for AP courses, and some electives Registration Sheets are focused on elective choices. Choose 5 electives and rank them in order. Parent and Student signature are required. Guidance Counselors will sign when received. Registration Sheets are due Friday, March 18, 2016.
